It's hard to see why there would be a mass exodus when the breeding industry is finally beginning a recovery here.Ioya Two wrote:I'm waiting for the mass exodus of stallions to regional markets or overseas. When does it usually happen, after the BC?

I know he's pensioned but I just saw this picture of A.P. Indy in 1990 before he sold for $2.9m.
A.P. Indy moments away from selling for $2,900,000 at the 1990 Keeneland July yearling sale.

TBird! Glad to see you back. By exodus, I meant the group of stallions that move from KY to a regional market (those who go cold at the sales, under-performing offspring, sold to make room for the new guys). Or the ones that go regional to regional, or even those shipped overseas. The industry is doing well now, but if a stallion is not doing well, he'll still get moved out somehow, no?TBird wrote:It's hard to see why there would be a mass exodus when the breeding industry is finally beginning a recovery here.Ioya Two wrote:I'm waiting for the mass exodus of stallions to regional markets or overseas. Euro Champion Dayjur, pensioned by Shadwell in 2010, was euthanized today at age 26 for "infirmities due to old age." Full story will be out soon.

I remember him fondly. What a speedball he was, and exceedingly handsome as well.

* "Champion Leroidesanimaux, sire of Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom, will relocate overseas to stand at Lanwades Stud in Newmarket, England beginning in 2014."
This is disappointing. He sired a Kentucky Derby and World Cup winner, but that didn't earn him enough support to avoid being exported?

* Regarding Shotiche, he was reportedly the last living son of Northern Dancer still standing at stud.

He's technically #7 on the general sire list here, but if you remove Animal Kingdom's earnings, he drops to around #200. I think that is sort of the problem. He's had some good runners but only one true standout, and it looks like people don't want to gamble too much on him. Maybe his pedigree will be in more demand over there. Looks like a lovely farm. Archipenko is there, and it's where Selkirk stood.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:* "Champion Leroidesanimaux, sire of Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom, will relocate overseas to stand at Lanwades Stud in Newmarket, England beginning in 2014."

Re: Leroi relocating to England. They obviously recognize his ability as a turf sire and I'm sure he will be appreciated over there.

Leroidesanimaux was at stud somewhere in Florida, wasn't he? Maybe it's just me, but I fail to see how going from Ocala to Newmarket isn't an upgrade for him. It's not like he's going to Easter Island or anything. He'll get plenty of good mares where he's going (compared to the caliber he's been breeding to in Ocala).BaroqueAgain1 wrote:* "Champion Leroidesanimaux, sire of Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom, will relocate overseas to stand at Lanwades Stud in Newmarket, England beginning in 2014."
