This is a good fit for him. But the fact that Kentucky farms don't seem to be interested in this horse is what's wrong with the industry.
i'd like a bullhorn to yell this from the rooftops in KY. breeders want fast precocious runners to score a few graded stakes wins, retire them to breed at 4, to make more fast precocious runners that run and are retired when the hit 4... i want to watch race horses... yknow. race (barring a career ending injury). they want to rake in as much money as fast as possible. very disappointing but it's been the case for a while now. I've seen some interesting ideas to incentivise horses running older and i'm sorry some of them haven't been tried.

I've known forever he was never going to go to Kentucky. Even if somehow, someway he would have gotten a deal to stand in Kentucky, he wouldn't have gotten many mares. Everything about his career screams regional market and breed to race owners. His pedigree isn't fashionable because both his sire and broodmare sire were considered failures and exported. He wasn't a precocious speedball at 2 or 3. He was a consistent, durable grinder. The breeders in Kentucky don't want this.
Honestly they would rather stand a precocious 2yo that brokedown at 2 than Hoppertunity that raced through age 7.
I just hope he proves them wrong and works his way to Kentucky the hard way.

Not necessarily “news”, but I found Sweden’s online studbook. Based on what i’ve seen, everything is free. It also shows a mare’s produce record. You just need google translate. Not sure how many people know of this but just in case there aren’t many I’m sharing my findings.

MyLute, that Swedish Studbook information may become more interesting to TVG viewers, as the racing channel has started showing Swedish racing early on Wednesday - Sunday mornings.
Much of the racing is Standardbred, but there are TB races as well.
I've been fascinated watching the ridden trotter races. Looks like lots of female jockeys for those...and, no, the riders don't post.

Australia had a nice day today with runners placing in G1s in England and France.

I think he is looking very promising as a sire. 1 G2 winner and 3 that are G1 placed so far.

Camelot had a good day too, with two year old Wonderment becoming his 3rd G1 winner of 2018/of his career, after Athena and Latrobe.

Great to see him have a two year old G1 winner in his second crop. Even though Camelot himself won the Racing Post Trophy as a two year old, Derby winners/St Leger contenders don't typically produce those precocious types. Hopefully he will get sent some of those Tier A Galileo Mares™ in 2019.

Northview posted some pictures of Hoppertunity in the pasture. He has already arrived.

He really is a handsome fellow and it seems to me rather well conformed. His front legs look clean and straight in spite of 34 starts over a multi year career. Good stuff.
And just as I thought from seeing videos and pictures of him in movement he looks compact yet elegant and well proportioned. Looks a bit downhill but I can’t wait to see his official photo!

That was a quick transition from the track to pasture. He looks great!

Anyone know how tall he is? He looks to be on the smaller side.

A very cute boy.

He looks about average height to me, maybe even a little on the larger end of the spectrum. All the footage I've seen of him next to other horses make him look normal. It can be difficult to gauge as well based on those pasture photos as I've read that when a horse is well proportioned, well balanced and generally symmetrical they actually tend to appear smaller to our eye than what they are.
Even seen here working in company with Dortmund doesn't seem to dwarf him so I'd expect he probably stands between 15.3hh and 16.1hh

I wonder if any of his regular grooms went with him to help him adjust? After five years of being with the same people, I can imagine he might be missing them...at least, until the opening of next year's breeding season rolls around. ;)

Looks like the classy guy he is. Looks like Northview will promote him well. I can't say I expect him to be a superstud but he could do well in that market with his good female family.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Two-year-old filly Jillbridge is among only five registered foals from the sire's sole Irish-bred crop conceived at Coolmore Stud in Ireland in 2015.
