Raceday presenters at Caulfield have earlier had a look and chat about UTZON before her race. Note Jayne is a former jockey and Tom is a horse physio! About 10 mins to post

One of Lucky Pulpit's last foals, the spotted one out of Passionforfashion, is selling at Fasig-Tipton. Here he is now!

I’m very interested to see what he brings at the sale. Unlike the typical Color Breeder Product (TM) that goes through the ring, this guy wasn’t really bred for his color, and he has a racing family. Lucky Pulpit was actually a quite good sire for California before Chrome and Old Fashioned through a couple nice ones. He also has First Dude in the family for a nice plus.
The article also says that Patchen Wilkes is consigning the white Super Bowl filly Beautiful Patriot. It will also be interesting to see what she brings, because like the colt she comes from a family with racing ability. The dam line just happens to be white.

The Lucky Pulpit x Passionforfashion colt appears to be a grey who is going through an interesting color phase. Love the gold mane and tail with the matching gold hooves and swath of color across the flanks, but I suspect that he's going to look like a normal grey in a year or two.
Attractive, although those hind legs look kind of straight.

Very interesting article about the history of gray thoroughbreds and the color's "founder", the Alcock Arabian.

The article is also interesting, and refers back to a previous discussion in this thread; a breed researcher has stated she "suspects there were more colors avaible in the breed originally, but died out over time".

He is NOT grey. You need a grey parent to produce a grey foal.
He'a a W gene dominant while colt. His grand dam Turf Club was a new W mutation.

Wow he's an interesting one, all right - but yeah, definitely not a greying pattern. Love his almost-medicine-hat.Retrospectiv wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 5:33 pmBaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 2:44 pm The Lucky Pulpit x Passionforfashion colt appears to be a grey who is going through an interesting color phase. Found this guy, Tottie Royer, on New Vocations. Is it just me, or does he have some “roaning” or whatever going on?

He has some stray white around his blaze but is just dark bay otherwise.
Here is a video of him, just a dark bay.
