I'm really intrigued that Kasaqui bred 2 mares.

Before anyone asks, the reason why Klimt got 222 mares is because Darby Dan let anything that can neigh breed to him. I heard that through the grapevine.

Otherwise, I’m so excited to look through this!

Apparently Into Mischief covered some pretty high quality mares this year, including Oatsee, Love Style (dam of Scat Daddy), Bella Jolie (dam of Runhappy) to name a few.

Hey, quick question.

So Rainbow Heir supposedly went to stud this year at Ocala. But I noticed a few months ago that he was still running this year. I thought OK, maybe they decided to give him another go.

But apparently he bred 30 mares this year.

Didn’t see an article about him “breeding mares but being infertile” anyway so what gives?

Given he covered over 168 mares in Florida this year, Uncaptured looks like the next to follow in the path of Kantharos and move to a KY farm in the next few seasons.

War Front only had 82 mares- wonder if there was interruption during his 2018 breeding like there was for Super Ninety Nine.

Glad to see Captain Bodgit still get some action :)

FuPeg only 4.... and I am shocked Coolmore still has him. is there a clause that forbids his transfer/sale to different farm?

Probably not. They've kept his book pretty limited through his whole career. That's partly why demand for his offspring is so high at sales.

I have the names of 69 of the mares bred to him. I wonder who the other 13 are.

Giant's Causeway bred 9 mares before he passed in march this year.

I suppose at 16 and being a son of Danzig his fertility could be declining as well.

Giant's Causeway managed to breed 9 mares before he passed away :(

Interesting numbers indeed. According to what I'm reading there was a 5% drop in number of mares covered overall in North America. But what makes it concerning is the fact that in spite of this drop there were 5 stallions this year that bred 200 mares or more (as opposed to last year's 4) and even the 6th stallion on the list bred a few more mares (195) than last year's fifth stallion (192).
This year's top 5 numbers are 245, 223, 222, 220, 214. Last year's top 5 was 235, 231, 214, 204, 192. Collectively this year's top 5 covered an additional 48 mares when compared to last year's.
On the bright side maybe, only one stallion in last year's top 5 stayed in this year's top 5, there was a significant shakeup.

Into Mischief increased in ranking from 235 to 245 this year.
Uncle Mo dropped out of the top 5 from 204 to 179
American Pharoah dropped out of the top 5 from 214 to 182.
Dialed In dropped out of the top 5 from 231 to 177
Bodemeister dropped out of the top 5 from 192 to 130

Thrilled (although surprised) that Classic Empire covered 185 mares. Disappointed Flintshire only got 89.

I think Cairo Prince is fairly stable. California Chrome too, in spite of the slight decrease it doesn't seem drastic. Ones that surprised me were Nyquist and Exaggerator at 153 and 163 respectively. Keen Ice at 176 really surprised me even

A few that surprised me-

Danzing Candy got 129! Wow! California sure loves him.
Cupid with his 223.
Divining Rod with 102.
Old man Distorted Humor with 136.
Midnight Storm with 119. Awesome!
Gormley with 180. Woah.
Flat Out with 74, his sire Flatter got 75.
Hootenanny with 41. Good for him.

Lightly raced Gr.III winner Speightster getting 150 with Speightstown getting 121. What is the appeal? I’m blank.

Tapit’s 3/4 brother Aldrin entered stud this year but isn’t listed as having covered any. Interesting.

There is a few stallions that I'm watching on this list:

Not This Time - 129
Firing Line - 60
Punctuate - 11 mares

I'm glad that Punctuate is now carrying his mother's line as his other brother siblings more likely not going to and Punctuate seemed to be the only one in his mother's offspring that showed promise in his first start, but it's a bit sad that Punctuate couldn't get back onto the track again to race :(

I feel like any stallion standing in Kentucky with under 50 mares bred has a high chance of a move. Obviously some of these had their books limited because of age, death or being pensioned. What is interesting to me is some of these don't even have foals of racing age yet and are breeding books of 35 or less mares.

He's going to be 21 in a few months. No point in moving him at that age, and they've kept other pensioners at the farm previously.

Speightster stands for $10,000, his sire was $100,000. He looked really impressive at 3 until he was injured, they tried bringing him back at 4, it didn't work out. He is out of a full sister to Dance Smartly and from the family of Smart Strike. Add to that Speightstown is showing the ability to produce some decent sires. He was also extremely popular in 2017, covering 174 mares.

Its strange Aldrin didn't cover any mares. Even if they priced him out of the WV market(he was standing for $4,000), I would still think the farm would breed to him. Its possible they are late submitting his report of mares bred but all other stallions on the farm have already been submitted.

Tbh, I was surprised to see Awesome Again still being advertised as available in 2019, even if it is for a private fee. With that in mind, him covering 48 mares seems very reasonable considering his age and fee.

I am surprised that Gio Ponti still isn't getting wild numbers, even in the post-Drefong years.

Revolutionary will be on the first boat to Korea/Turkey/Saudi Arabia/South America, Competitive Edge will be with him.

Paynter and Graydar I bet will see some better numbers in 2019. I was the last person to expect a son of Awesome Again to produce a G1 winning two year old in his second crop, yet here we are!

Macho Uno is so underrated. It's a shame we lost Bobby Abu Dhabi.

I guess this explains why Magician is now a in Ireland.

Court Vision getting 61 mares in Louisiana is impressive.

Dortmund getting 25 mares in Maryland... seems about right.

132 mares for Ghostzapper = happiness.

43 mares for Karakontie = sadness

99 mares for Noble Mission is pretty good

Moving Stay Thirsty to California looks to be paying off in spades, 125 mares.

Mylute got 2 mares. Me big sad.

Iron Fist got 64 in Louisiana. Good.

War Front's brother Jay Gatsby got 13.

Jump Start got 63. Value sire. Broodmare sire.

Prayer for Relief got 26. Bless his soul.

Ironicus got 41.

Hard Aces got 23. Good for him, but expected more.

Cage Fighter got 4 in Maryland.

Toews On Ice got 4 in New Mexico.

Northern Afleet was bred to 55 mares before he died.

Valiant Minister, winner in one start, got....78.

Wonder how many of Square Eddie's 43 are Reddam mares. He does have some good Cali runners, actually.

Is anybody else surprised at Super Saver always getting 100+ mares in recent years? The only horses I can think of that he sired of note are Runhappy and Competitive Edge.
