I'm a little disappointed too not gonna lie, I love Cairo Prince and hope he has a successful stud career. Most people expect his get to be late developers but it can only be good for him commercially that he already has a graded stakes winning 2yo in his first crop.
I suppose there are several other graded stakes for 2yos from here until the end of the year besides the BC though so you never know if it could boost his fee a little.

Nobody associated with Cairo Prince as a stallion is 'down' right now. They are just waiting to see how much higher his fee is going to be this winter, and whether they get piggish and go for a big jump or something more moderate. Regardless, nobody gets upset when considering a rise in fee.

With the prices Cairo Prince's progeny were fetching at the sales and the boost in fee before anything hit the track, I'd expect/hope he has some more stakes winners/performers before the year is over.

Every single article that has been out about his progeny starting from his first yearlings selling last year until now, have made comments about expecting them to be later developers. Almost every person who bought one of his higher priced offspring also echoed that sentiment. "Look how good they are now and yet you'd expect them to be less precocious types and develop later which can only mean good things." type comments.
I suppose it depends on what barometers you're using but to me 'graded stakes winner at 2' doesn't really specify. If your 2yo started in April or May and started winning then, I think that would be a precocious type. If your 2yo is starting in August - September that would be later (without being pathologically late). Starting in October is getting late. Winning the Bob Hope as a 2yo in November isn't the same as winning the Best Pal in August or even the Hopeful in September.

In my opinion, there are only so many mares worth putting a $100,000 + stud fee into. The US now has at least 11 (if I'm counting right) stallions who are standing for over 100k.

Given stud fees and book sizes, are 10% of the mares covered by Kentucky based stallions worth putting a 100k+ stud fee into?

IMO, the market is getting too hot at the moment to be sustainable under the conditions you mentioned, but the farm's are trying to take advantage while they can. Good luck to commercial breeder's though.

Disappointed in Lane's End roster at the moment, given it's polarization with this bump for Quality Road. I've touted QR for a couple of years, but we're out on him for 2019 at that number. Difficult to be confidant of making money 3 years from now if looking to breed to sell as a small breeder. Candy Rides fee is fair given his age and some of his sons now in the market. Still bullish on Honor Code at $40,000, and would probably be speculatively optimistic on some of their younger stallions such as Connect, Unified and Noble Mission. Chance to be profitable without the risk associated with six figure fees. Time for some small ball, instead of looking to knock something out of the park.

I'm hoping Noble Mission has some breakout performers. I've noticed his two-year-olds are running well, though often just short of first. But being a full to Frankel, I would think that his potential is very high. The Sadler's Wells line seems to be consistently good...and, of course, there's the KIND factor.
