Another G1 winner for Scat Daddy as Skitter Scatter (I love that name) takes the Moyglare Stud S at the Curragh. NOT owned by Coolmore.

Unfortunately Alpha Centauri sustained an injury to her right front fetlock and has been sent to the Fethard Equine Clinic for further evaluation.
Chip in her right front fetlock and she has been retired. Priceless broodmare prospect, but I was really hoping to see her in the BC.

Saxon Warrior was also injured in his race and has also been retired.

I saw Alpha Centauri's retirement coming but I'm shocked about Saxon Warrior, what a shame. Would have been a brilliant older horse I'm sure.

He looked really good. I was pulling for Talismanic, but Waldgeist just blew right on by him.

Another Galileo, Flag of Honour, won the Irish St. Leger (G1).

Two new G1 winners for Dubawi today: Quorto in the National S at the Curragh and Kitesurf in the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp.

This isn't across a "pond" but I don't know where else to ask.

Does Canada have a Gr.I dirt race?

I don't think so. The Prince of Wales, the 3rd leg of Canada's Triple Crown, is on dirt at Fort Erie, but since those races are restricted to horses bred in Canada, I believe they don't get a Grade 1 rating.
The G1's are run at Woodbine, on either the all-weather or turf.

No. They only have 5 G1 races and all are on the turf (Woodbine Mile, Northern Dancer S., Natalma S., Canadian International and E.P. Taylor S.). So many of their stakes races are restricted to Canadian breds only so they are ineligible to be Graded Stakes by the NA Graded Stakes Committee.

The Woodbine Mile originally started as a G1 Stakes on the dirt for 3yos named the Molson Export Challenge, its name was changed the following year to the Molson Export Million. The race then moved to the turf in 1997, was changed to 3+ and then the name was changed in 1999 to the Atto Mile/Woodbine Mile.

Another blow for British racing as now Poet's Word is out for the rest of the year with an injury. His future is up in the air.

Alpha Centauri, Saxon Warrior and now Poet's Word? I don't think I've seen so many top Euro grass runners suddenly out or retired due to injury. I expect it with American dirt runners, but not with Euro turf horses. :?

With all of these good Euros out, it will be interesting to see what the turf races at the BC look like. Not sure if Poet's Word was looking at the BC but I know that Alpha Centauri was.

Makes the races more interesting though.

In case anyone hasn’t yet watched the Replay, Ten Sovereigns’s win was extremely impressive he put away most of his rivals with ease and the way he lengthened his stride and powered even with the next horse close to him I feel like the results would’ve been the same if they’d ran it again. Reminded me of Classic Empire’s game stretch battle vs Not This Time. I was hoping he might make the trip for the BC but sounds like he might be done for the year and will be stretching out as a 3yo.

The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is this coming Sunday, and it's looking like Cracksman will not run due to the forecast for firm ground.
https://www.racingpost.com/news/latest/ ... ade/347799
From the article:
Gosden's 2017 Arc winner Enable headed 22 acceptors on Monday for a race in which Sea Of Class is set to be supplemented later this week.
Sir Michael Stoute revealed on Monday that King George runner-up Crystal Ocean will not be added to the field.

I'm not sure when the field will be drawn, but the French classic always has a huge field.

I cannot wait to see Enable vs. Sea of Class (who carries 7 fewer pounds than Enable if I did the math right).

A racehorse escaped the Chantilly track after dumping her rider and wound up at the track’s bar. Neither article mentions the filly’s name.
