According to a tweet by Haras Sumaya, GSW Malagacy was retired due to his injury and will enter stud this year at Haras Porta Pia, standing alongside Dangerous Midge and Dunkirk.

EDIT: After researching further this has apparently been "known" for a month or so, but it somehow went unreported by Bloodhorse, Paulick, etc.

Always Dreaming Retired to WinStar Farm

What a meteoric career he had. After they treated his ulcers and brought him back I was eager to see what he could do. But it wasn't much.
Fabulous pedigree though.

This might be more suited to the "Whatever Happened To?" thread but I wanted to post it here since it's dealing with a stallion and I didn't want to make a completely new topic.
I was bored the other evening and decided to look through stud farm websites. While doing so I noticed that Country Day is no longer listed on Crestwood's site stallion roster, and searching his name on BH's stallion register yields nothing. When you go to the "News" section on Crestwood's site, you see Country Day's name listed in the side categories, but that's it. The last news for him is July of 2017
Are there any files reported for him? Curious.

He does have a 2018 Report of Mares Bred, but nothing else of note.Mylute wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 12:38 am This might be more suited to the "Whatever Happened To?" thread but I wanted to post it here since it's dealing with a stallion and I didn't want to make a completely new topic.

There was a 6.7 magnitude earthquake near Shadai Stallion Station but all people and horses were reported to be ok, the power was gone for a while. Amongst many others, Deep Impact stands at Shadai.
The earthquake has unfortunately claimed casualties elsewhere along with the powerful typhoon that hit Japan this week. I truly hope this is the end of it now and that all our TBC friends in Japan are safe and ok.

If he wasn't getting support in KY at 3500$ as a Derby winner, the move makes sense.Mylute wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 9:40 pm Smarty Jones Returning to Stud in Pennsylvaniafor 2019

He was standing in Kentucky for $7,500. I feel like a lot of Calumet's stallions are overpriced though.Treve wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 3:36 pmIf he wasn't getting support in KY at 3500$ as a Derby winner, the move makes sense.Mylute wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 9:40 pm Smarty Jones Returning to Stud in Pennsylvaniafor 2019

Oh derp. For some reason my brain assimilated his 2019 fee to the current one. He's certainly been a useful sort of stallion, but I feel useful sorts are perhaps better suited to regional markets. Thanks for the correction.Flanders wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 4:14 pmHe was standing in Kentucky for $7,500. Because they are. They've gotten more reasonable with each passing year, but still don't really reflect the market.Flanders wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 4:14 pmHe was standing in Kentucky for $7,500.
