She won again- I heard it was an absolute dominating performance.

2 more of Marylou’s Song’s babies are also apparently at Fairmont Park. From what I am able to find out- she died giving birth to her 2017 Filly - and has been named Marys Last Song. R.I.P. Marylou.

All of her babies are full siblings- she was only bred to Albertus Maximums

Here's the promised post regarding the Argentine Triple Crown!

As mentioned earlier, Saturday brings us the first legs: the Gran Premio Polla de Potrancas (fillies) and the Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos (colts). Both are run at 1600m on the dirt at the Hipodromo Palermo (first run in 1895). The remaining races in the Triple Crown are the Gran Premio Jockey Club (2000m on the turf at Hipodromo San Isidro on October 13) and the Gran Premio Nacional (2500m on the dirt back at Palermo on November 10).

There have been 19 winners of the Argentine Triple Crown, the first being Pippermint in 1902. Two fillies have won (Sierra Balcalce in 1930 and La Mission in 1940). The most recent winner was Refinado Tom in 1996.

This year we have a Grand Reward filly, Gran Optima (ARG), in the Polla de Potrancas. She's out of the Southern Halo mare Optimar (ARG), and has a race record of 3-1-1-1 lifetime. She broke her maiden in her most recent start, going 1600m at Palermo (https://youtu.be/4VX7CC843gQ). She definitely has talent, but is facing a big jump in class, as this is her first stakes appearance.

A son of Angiolo (ARG), As Del Paraiso (ARG), is entered in the Polla de Potrillos. He's out of the Llers Fitz (ARG) mare Magnetica Llers, and has a lifetime record of 10-5-2-2, all in stakes company. He's by far the highest money earner in the field. The main concern I have is whether he wants 1600m. He has so far excelled at shorter distances. His last race was a second by a half neck at 1600m, so perhaps it is in his scope.

Other upcoming stakes

8/31
Mr. Reward (ARG) is entered in the Clasico Villmar Sanguinetti (1400mT for 3YO colts).

9/3
My Intense Boy (ARG) is entered in the Clasico El Serrano (1000m for 3YO colts)

Today's South American results:

Ladies First (ARG) was 4th.
Mr Reward (ARG) was 6th.
Mi Predilecto (ARG) refused to come out of the starting gate. That's two starters in two days that had major problems with the gate! Yesterday, a Chuck Berry firster, Corro Chuck (ARG), was so slow coming out of the gate you can't see it on the video...he understandably had no shot. (I find his name a touch ironic, since "corro" means "I run"...)

On a bit better news, Angiolo (ARG) had a winner! Angie (ARG) had the second win of her career! https://youtu.be/wXkoyaQB1Jo

Tomorrow's a big day for Argentine racing...good luck to all our runners!
