Speightsong (Speightstown-Song of the Lark) broke his maiden yesterday by 7 and a half lengths at the Fair Grounds. He is a half-brother to Up With The Birds. Looks like Sam-Son has another nice one.
Song of the Lark is out of Canadian Champion, Wilderness Song.

It may have nothing to do with the classy Lady Cecil and more to do with the desire to turn this horse into a Group or Graded stakes winner.
I don't think I'm being terribly provocative if I say that the grass racing is a teeny bit softer here in the States than it is in Britain.
And maybe his connections think the colt might move up on Lasix?

I think you are right. He was doing okay in the handicap division, but not enough that you'd say "there's group winner in the making." Plus, provided he's competitive he can earn much more over here in listed stakes, let alone graded.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:It may have nothing to do with the classy Lady Cecil and more to do with the desire to turn this horse into a Group or Graded stakes winner.

It seems that Street Cry is not a good nick with Better than Honour. This is her second foal to race by Street Cry and her second stinker. With that pedigree both of them might make lovely broodmares though (Tiffany's Honour and Better Not Cry)

Bill Casner's ONLY IN AMERICA, full bro to WELL ARMED, broke his maiden at Tampa today. The 4yo was making his first start since last April. He runs without lasix.

I don't know what Tiffany's Honour looks like, but Better Not Cry isn't particularly attractive.mimi6920 wrote:It seems that Street Cry is not a good nick with Better than Honour. I'm surprised that Better Than Honour has not been sent back to an A.P. Indy-line stallion, since Rags was so good, and Casino Drive (Mineshaft) wasn't too bad, either. Or back to Giant's Causeway, who sired BC Marathon winner Man of Iron.

She did have a Bernardini in 2013 and was bred back to Tapit, so it seems they agree with you. She was also bred to Bernardini for 2012, but didn't have a foal.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:I'm surprised that Better Than Honour has not been sent back to an A.P.
