I don't doubt that they test breed stallions their first year at stud but I do doubt he is Forty Niner's son. I mean it would make the horse 28. Forty Niner was sold to Japan in 1995, with his last US crop being born in 1996. The horse just doesn't look that old. I did a little searching and I think he is a descendant of Forty Niner.

I think he is by Forty Niner's son, Flight Forty Nine. This is what I found:

Which leads me to believe he is a full thoroughbred registered as I'm Fifty, who didn't race. He is listed as Fifty on All Breed.

That makes much more sense, yes. I saw that pedigree on the All Breed database but assumed the Fifty in question wasn't full TB. I'm curious where he got that color?

I Spot A Cartel, race 5, July 7 at Los Al...listed as a paint. He's pretty spectacular (came in second).

In that same short (100 yards!) race, there was also a palomino. I failed to get his name, but he didn't win either.

Not necessarily from Bode. Likely a new KIT mutation. There have been other TBs who looked like true splash but never tested for it. Likely an unknown similar mutation.
Yes, he could be cross registered APHA.

Bode has been throwing a lot of loudly marked foals though these two from last year, especially the first colt presents a similar pattern so I don't think it's a spontaneous kit mutation. And these are just some of the flashiest examples, you can easily find more babies with plenty of chrome by him too.

While many of those foals are loudly coloured, they're not the specific splashed white phenotype that SP expresses. Socks and blazes are not abnormal within large foal crops.
I'd love to see the gene discovered in TBs that mimics that pattern.

I would not be surprised if Unbridled was a frame carrier, given the big white blaze and solid legs.

Did you look at the first one in the instagram link? That's the colt I was referring to that has the exact same type of pattern expression as SP. (I couldn't get a separate picture to post)

Yes I did.
While he's 'loud', he's really not splash phenotype and not that out of the ordinary.
