We're still using him, even at $70,000. This streak of success is only the beginning, imo, as he's continuing to get better and better mares.Treve wrote:Given Quality Road's stud fee was 25 000$ in 2014 then 35 000$ from 2015-2017, those people got a pretty good bang for their buck I'd say.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

HB is a breeder and owns several mares. He has posted a few photos of some of the foals he's produced before.stark wrote:Who be we?Horsebagger wrote:We're still using him, even at $70,000. But yes, I agree he is well worth his stud fee even at 70k.

More than a handful of people on this site (or formerly on this site) know who I am. Who 'we' are. I just choose it not be widely disseminated across the internet, but would welcome you to meet up at Belmont or Saratoga if you're in the area anytime this summer. PM me.

South African stud berth beckons for dual top-level winner Erupt
More: https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/b ... upt/337888The South African stallion ranks has gained an exciting addition in the shape of top-level winner Erupt who is joining the roster at Maine Chance Farm this season.
Erupt becomes the only European Group 1-winning son of Darley's flagship sire Dubawi to stand in the rainbow nation and he will be offered alongside leading sires Silvano and Querari.
A Niarchos homebred, Erupt was trained for the majority of his career by Francis-Henri Graffard and the first of his elite level wins came when landing the Grand Prix de Paris as a three-year-old.
He would not record another victory for over a year until running out with the Canadian International Stakes in October 2016.
Out of the Group 3-winning Caerleon mare Mare Nostrum, Erupt is a half-brother to the Listed-winning Marie De Medici. He is from the family of elite performers Aube Indienne, I Am A Star and Flying Spur.

More about Quality Road's outstanding start at stud...
Taking the High Road
Taking the High Road
More: http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/ta ... -high-roadThe essence of Quality Road the racehorse was his uncompromising speed at distances short of a mile-and-a-quarter. His 121 Beyer winning the 9-furlong Donn at Gulfstream Park, when he lowered his own track record set a year earlier winning the GI Florida Derby, has not been bettered since at distances beyond a mile. In fact he was so brilliant that he recorded triple-digit Beyers in as many as 11 of his 13 career starts.
Retired to Lane’s End at a fee of $35,000, Quality Road has established himself as the best sire son of Elusive Quality and demonstrated his sire power recently, siring Grade I winners Able Tasman and Spring Quality on the Belmont Stakes card. His ratio of stakes winners to runners currently stands at 9.2%, which fairly reflects what his mare quality suggested he should achieve–and something that most sires fail to do. Looking at the Gone West sire line, we find that Quality Road has only Speightstown (11.7%), Speightstown’s son Munnings (10.7%) and Zafonic (10.1%) ahead of him–and he’s easily outscoring his own father who has sired 7.6% stakes winners to runners from his northern hemisphere foals.
But those percentages don’t tell the whole story about Quality Road’s excellent start at stud. A more accurate reflection of his brilliance can be seen from his Grade I winner count. From his first four crops, he’s sired a remarkable eight Grade I winners in North America, which is a pretty rare feat.

Black Sam Bellamy - brother of Galileo and Group 1 sire - dies aged 19
More: https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/b ... -19/338490Black Sam Bellamy, the brother of Galileo who tasted success as a sire both on the Flat and over jumps, died on Monday.
The son of Sadler's Wells, who had stood the past ten breeding seasons at Shade Oak Stud in Shropshire, was 19.
Stud owner Peter Hockenhull reported: “He had been ill for several weeks with a congestive heart problem.
"The veterinary advice was that the condition could not be cured but that as long as he could be kept comfortable and enjoyed quality of life he could continue to cover mares when he felt able to. We informed our clients of this and I am grateful for the understanding they showed.
"True to form, he wanted to cover a mare on certain days, whilst preferring to rest on others, and it sums up his innate vitality that the last mare he covered was certified in foal on the very day he died.
“Unfortunately on Monday his condition deteriorated markedly and it was obvious that we had reached the end of the road, so with great sadness we had to bid him farewell.”
Black Sam Bellamy was the fourth foal produced by the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine and breed-shaping broodmare Urban Sea, one year the junior of Derby winner and perennial champion sire Galileo.

https://www.darley.com.au/news/top-clas ... ic-dies-25G1-winning sprinter and successful sire Strategic has succumbed to the infirmities of old age at Godolphin’s Woodlands Stud, where he was born almost 26 years ago.
The winner of seven races including the G1 Australia Stakes in 1996, Strategic burst onto the racing scene in the cerise silks of the Ingham brothers with five consecutive wins as a two-year-old, among them the G2 Pago Pago Stakes and the G3 Skyline Stakes.

Strategic also made a name for himself as broodmare sire, his daughters having produced such high-class gallopers as Holler, Le Romain and Griante.
After retiring from stud duties in 2014, Strategic enjoyed his retirement at Woodlands alongside his old racetrack rival and stablemate Octagonal.
