Jour Polaire(JPN), 2013M. Deep Impact(JPN) x Summer Night City(JPN) by Helissio(FR), scored her first graded victory in the G1 Victoria Mile 1600m turf at Tokyo on May 13th 2018. She is a 1/2 sister to G1 winner Sadamu Patek(JPN)(Fuji Kiseki).
Lys Gracieux(JPN) got her fourth silver medal in the G1s.

Coeur de Beaute(FR), 2015F. Dabirsim(FR) x Twilight Tear(GB) by Rock of Gibraltar(IRE), finished second to Teppal(FR) in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) 1600m at Paris-Longchamp on May 13th 2018.
I thought Coeur de Beaute was very unlucky after that unusual course change, even if Soumillon's claim against the track status was right.
She had to overcome her widest draw with the shortest lead-up to the first corner.

Almond Eye(JPN), 2015F. Lord Kanaloa(JPN) x Fusaichi Pandora(JPN) by Sunday Silence(USA), won the G1 Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) 2400m turf at Tokyo on May 20th 2018.
She became 14th filly to make the Oka Sho - Yushun Himba double and now eyes G1 Triple for three-years-old fillies.

Wagnerian(JPN), 2015C. Deep Impact(JPN) x Miss Encore(JPN)[King Kamehameha(JPN) x Broad Appeal(USA)], won the G1 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) 2400m turf at Tokyo on May 27th 2018.
That was jockey Yuichi Fukunaga's much-awaited first Tokyo Yushun title in his 19th attempt.
Yuichi Fukunaga is a son of the legendary jockey Yoichi Fukunaga whose career was cut tragically short by a crippling accident in the race.
Emotional Yuichi commented after the race; ''Winning the Derby was our family's dream (his father Yoichi Fukunaga didn't win the Derby). Now I can give my father good news.''

Wagnerian's amazing owner Makoto Kaneko owned his sire Deep Impact, dam Miss Encore, dam's sire King Kamehameha and granddam Broad Appeal.

This is so exciting and rewarding for those of us who believed in Sunday Silence since his racing days. I love Study of Man's pedigree too. Storm Cat and Miesque...could not get any better on the dam side.

I only wish that the Sunday Silence line would emerge as important here in the US.

Also, what a thrilling video that was. Where the camera is right next to the rail, you can see and hear the thundering herd going by so close. Wow! Puts our dull, remote style of covering races here in the US way to shame.

On that note... if I have kept track right, Deep Impact has capture English, French and Japanese Classics this year alone!? I think it's only a matter of time before US breeders give another look to the Sunday Silence sireline. Especially with Hat Trick's quiet performance last year on the world stage as well as his son Darbisim off to a resounding start. Sure hope Gainesway keeps him around.

Hat Trick didn't return from Brazil after shuttling in 2017. He wasn't appreciated in the US, there was no reason to send him back. He covered 19 mares in 2017, its not worth to shuttle a stallion back for that.

I think that European breeders are tapping the Sunday Silence line to gain an outcross for all their Sadlers' Wells/Danehill bloodlines. Clearly, the Deep Impact offspring are showing that is a successful cross.
However, those wins mentioned above have come in turf races. It makes sense for European breeders to use a horse like Deep Impact but, unfortunately, Sunday's sons haven't been a huge success getting top dirt runners. And being strictly a grass sire is a hard way to make it here in the US.
Kitten's Joy did it, but he had a dedicated (one could say obsessed) owner determined to "make" KJ into a success. And now, KJ's offspring (like Hawkbill, Roaring Lion) are even doing well Across the Pond.
