Given how late in the season Arravale is due to foal 5/24/2018 will they breed her again this year or give her a year off in hopes of having an earlier foal?
There are other things that I could do, but there's really nothing that I love as much as horse racing. Chantal Sutherland

Via Veneto's filly and Rosie are in their stall, and the filly has a big bandage around her neck. I hope she is ok and that it is just a routine thing.

She’s probably got a catheter in. Wonder if she got sick and needs some fluids and antibiotics.

f. Pioneerof the Nile x Joyful Victory (3/25)...looking forward to seeing her make it to the races.
It seems like there are a LOT of fillies in this year's crop. Guess we'll have plenty of Girl Power in a few years. :D

The listed breeder of this foal is Teruya Yoshida, so I won't be surprised to see these 2 head to Japan in the near future.

IIRC, Joyful Victory was one of several top Tapit fillies that were purchased by Japanese interests, including Stardom Bound and Tapitsfly. This seems to show how high breeders like Yoshida are on PotN, with mares being shipped back to the US to breed to him.

Yeah, they bought Zazu, as well. But I think JV was already in foal to POTN when Yoshida purchased her. She has not left the US (yet).

This evening (6:48pm Eastern) Via Veneto's filly still has the bandage around her neck, but she seems ok. She's lying on the straw next to Rosie, swishing her tail as always.

The beautiful filly by California Chrome out of Colerful Bride who is The People's Horse foal had a paddock accident last night. It's been reported on the California Chrome's Foals Facebook page that they had to remove one of the filly's eyes. Heartbroken over this.

Also, Via Veneto's beautiful filly who is being raised by nurse mare, Rosie, has a big bandage around her neck the last couple of days.

Praying for both these sweet fillies.

That's terrible, and we all know how bad a paddock accident can be; it's how we lost Z Princess. At least she should recover from the injury, and she could still be a good racehorse; just ask Patch. ;)

If true, it's a shame but could be a lot worse, at least she is alive and should be fine.

It's true. The People's Horse members received an email with information from the vet.

sorry to hear about Colerful Bride's filly, but thank goodness for small mercies, hoping she makes a quick and uncomplicated recovery.
I was wondering, Ridan do they also update you on the two other mares bred to CC that were the people's horse's candidates?

Oh that's too bad about the Colorful Bride filly. Just wish we could bubblewrap them when they go out to play. They're a lot more fragile than they look. Sad for Taylor Made too.

Whoever runs The People's Horse is pretty erratic about keeping members up to date. Some members got emails about the filly's injury and some didn't. I found out about it because I'm a member of the California Chrome's Foals Facebook page. That's where I also found out that some people had received emails from TPH, apparently with a video from the vet explaining the injury and why the eye had to be removed. I have not seen the video, but others have said it is not a kick injury. Something punctured the eye at an angle and turned, destroying the lens.
