Lady Eli is in foal to War Front. Still cankerous per her exercise rider on Paulick Report. I am kind of surprised she let the stallion mount her with the personality she has. When she has the foal- wonder if she would be over-protective which would almost warrant removal of the foal to nurse-mare?

I'm very surprised they're breeding her again.
But Not This Time being from the Storm Cat line, it should be a good match.

Personally, I'm over the moon Leslie's Lady is going to have (hopefully/at least) one more shot with the Storm Cat stallion line.... and one of the most precocious sons of arguably the best Storm Cat sire, Giants Causeway??? Yes, please! I hope her MDO colt and her AP filly prove out, but she's only produced her nicest runners from Storm Cat line stallions.
...and I get that 22 is quite up there for a mare, but without knowing her, we can't assume she isn't in tip-top shape and/or thrives when she has a foal at her side.

To be fair, American Pharoah does have Storm Cat on the bottom even if he's not a direct male descendant.
None of the other stallions she has been bred to outside of the Storm Cat line sons (including MdO), have had Storm Cat anywhere in their pedigree.
Nonetheless it is a bit of an odd choice. And not all her offspring with Storm Cat line stallions produced results automatically either.

Obviously they want to stick with the Storm Cat sire line. Thing is, in the US right now, you don't have many(any?) proven commercial stallions from that line left that she could cross with. The #1 is her son, Into Mischief. The Tale Of The Cat and Forestry sire lines haven't done well with Icecapade line mares. So this leaves you with Giant's Causeway line stallions and Stormy Atlantic. Stormy Atlantic has the highest nick rating but he is mainly a turf sire so you can cross him and his sons off the list.Northport wrote:Breeding a 22 year old mare who is the dam of 3 G1 winners to an unproven G3 winner who retired unsound before his 3 year old year... okay...
This leaves a handful of Giant's Causeway sons. Brody's Cause, Carpe Diem, Creative Cause, Fed Biz, First Samurai, Niagara Causeway, Not This Time, Protonico. Perhaps they decided to short list some of these, decided to go with something unproven and liked Not This Time the best physically? I think if I owned her and had to pick from that list I would go with unproven too.

Promise to be True (IRE) --> Deep Impact
Promise to be True is the G3W/G1P younger full sister to G1W Maybe (IRE), who is the dam of Saxon Warrior (IRE). Maybe herself is in the US, having produced a colt by American Pharoah last year and a filly by War Front this year.

More: https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/l ... ore/335532Annie Power - the brilliant hurdler who became the first mare in 22 years to win the Champion Hurdle in 2016 - has been purchased by Coolmore and is in foal to the operation's perennial champion sire Galileo, whose remarkable tally of top-flight winners on the Flat now stands at 71.
The daughter of Shirocco was sent to Camelot last year by owner Rich Ricci but failed to see that pregnancy through to term.

A hurdler like Annie Power is an interesting buy for Coolmore. She clearly had stamina, but they chose to send her to two stallions (Galileo {Sadler's Wells} & Camelot {Montjeu}) who tend to pass on stamina themselves.
I can imagine the resulting foal could be a contender in the Ascot Gold Cup in four or five years.

They didn't do the Camelot mating, according to what's posted aboveBaroqueAgain1 wrote:A hurdler like Annie Power is an interesting buy for Coolmore. Oops. I missed that.
Still, both owners chose to breed her to stamina-strong stallions.
It's too bad she lost the Camelot pregnancy, because IMHO that combo could definitely provide a Cup horse. Maybe Coolmore will return to Camelot with her in the future.
