Oh my god...Wild Lando, who was leading in the race, ducked out so badly in the stretch that he ran into Dial Me In, who then ran into Faversham. The collision clearly caused severe injury to Dial Me In, who lost his rider as he stumbled, and I believe he went down.
Faversham appears to be OK, crossing the wire in what looked like 3rd...although I'd be worried about the colt until I was able to check him thoroughly back at the barn.

Santa Anita: Duluth ($27.40) wins incident-filled maiden race
Duluth ($27.40) won Friday's third race for California-bred maidens, the beneficiary of a clean trip in a race in which another runner impeded a rival so severely that the affected horse sustained an injury.

In the stretch, Wild Lando, the 8-5 favorite, drifted out and into the path of 4-1 Dial Me In, who was forced to check under jockey Victor Espinoza. Dial Me In appeared to sustain an injury to the upper section of his right foreleg in the incient and was vanned off.

Dial Me In was taken to the stables for evaluation, according to stewart Scott Chaney.

Wild Lando continued the race and finished second. Duluth, racing on the inside in the stretch and away from the incident, won the one-mile race by six lengths.

After an inquiry, the stewards disqualified Wild Lando and placed him fifth. Faversham, a full-brother to two-time Horse of the Year California Chrome, finished third and was promoted to second. Faversham was forced to check under jockey Stewart Elliott, nearly coming to a stop, and appeared to make contact with Dial Me In.

Faversham, trained by Art Sherman, finished third by eight lengths.

Duluth and Wild Lando are trained by Phil D'Amato. Dial Me In is trained by Jim Cassidy.

@BH_JBalan

"Art Sherman is pretty shaken up, but reports Faversham, the full-brother to California Chrome, came out of the incident OK.

"Boy are we lucky. He was inches away from going down. I just went over my horse and he looks OK. No scratches or anything."

Dial Me In is being evaluated"

That's so sad. I didn't see the race but I was scrolling through the posts here, hoping he'd be all right.

Saw the news earlier on twitter but didn't know what race this was in... RIP Dial Me In, what an awful situation and an awful incident. The others involved were very lucky not to suffer life threatening injuries. Just wish Dial Me In had gotten the same luck too :(

Well, that should be interesting. If Aiden O'Brien is excited and dreaming of the possibilities of what he could be... I'm gonna let my spine tingle a little.

ETA: She won. Went to the front and improved her position. :D Had a nice kick in the stretch...did her mom proud.
Figarella's Queen won the Sanibel Island S at Gulfstream today.

Electric Forest, half to Maccleans Music, by Curlin, just won the third at Keeneland. Don't think it was a 114 BSF. . .

Ha I was about to post her in here! She's beautiful, although to be fair the track conditions aren't optimal for triple digit beyers today I think...

Didn't mean to sound harsh, just playing off Maclean's Music 114BSF. But given he only raced once, that may not be a bad thing. . .

Yeah of course, I just meant might not be the optimal occasion to compare her to him based on that one run. Though if she's got a hint of his talent being by durable Curlin she could be a very nice filly :)
