Colt foal born 72 hours ago by Speightstown out of SW Coco As In Chanel. We’ve nicknamed this guy “Spidey”! @HillnDaleFarm @AntoinDeLeis @DonatoLanni

Fortunate to have a few mares in foal this spring by to one of my favorite stallions, Speightstown. Young SW mare “Coco As In Chanel” just had her first foal by Speightstown this morning. Thanks to everyone at @HillnDaleFarm. Always appreciate the good work. @AntoinDeLeis

How soon before foaling do they wrap a mare's tail? I just noticed that Memento D'Oro's groom was wrapping her tail.

I do it when they’re close to breaking water.

Usually pretty soon... ! 8-)

ETA: I haven't been able to see Memento d'Oro's livestream at all, it always says "may be unavailable" and there's no red button to click to access prior footage. She's the only mare I've had that happen with? :( :(

ETA to the ETA: Nowwww I can see her, nice big stall but she definitely does not look comfy. Here's hoping for an easy & uneventful birth with a healthy foal and mama.

c. - Curlin - Scarlet Tango, by French Deputy (1/28). Scarlet Tango died sometime though as she has a pending death report. The foal is registered so I guess he made it.

Memento d'Oro didn't foal last night, they undid the tailwrap this morning

Sad to hear about Scarlet Tango... here's to hoping her baby boy grows up big and strong.

I really like how big Memento d'Oro's stall is and that she can still hang her head over the door :D

ETA: love the irregular white on the baby's face (dunno yet whether it's a colt or filly) - bay with some chrome, very nice foal 8-)

ETAA: pretty sure they put the GoPro back on the headstall of her halter... should be some interesting footage

Up & standing (albeit wobbly like a drunken sailor  ) just about an hour after birth. Now on to nursing!

So adorable. Any indication if it's a filly or colt? Checked in earlier and Memento d'Oro was munching hay. Yep it's bedtime on the west coast.

Per her foalpatrol.com blog page, it's a filly! They also posted 4 short, in stall videos. It was a camera he attached to her halter :D
