@Tachyon - The photos of Gold Ship in the snow are so beautiful and peaceful. Thank you for sharing them with us.

@Stark - Oh the games horses play with their humans.

I’ve known plenty of horses pulling out with 4 shoes coming back from the gallops with only 3 but never known a horse to come back with 5 shoes... This is exactly what happened to one of my fillies this very morning! Unbelievable!

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

:o That looks like it could have hurt. :?
I know Gun Runner picked up a lost shoe in his tail last year, but for a shoe flying through the air to land a perfect 'ringer' on another horse's leg has to be nearly impossible.

They are very lucky she wasn't hurt badly. The blacksmith had to pry open the shoe to get it off. Yes, that guy needs to buy a lotto ticket right now.

The filly is fine @mbauerherzog , not a single scratch on her, thank God. Pretty scary to witness though as she picked up that shoe in full canter!

Trainer Tommy Woodcock (aka the groom of Phar Lap) and his grand stayer Reckless the night before he finished 2nd in the 1977 Melbourne Cup

It gets better a couple of hours before the Cup he was walking the horse around and giving kids rides as he did so! He put a couple of kids bareback on the horse walked it around then put the next lot of kids on!

These photos of Lightnin N Thunder, one of the prettiest I've seen. They've come from Bloodhorse.

I wish I could find them. There was a fantastic series of pictures of Skip Away after he retired to stud. I just remember being taken aback by them. Mostly because I didn't realize how beautiful he was with his weird gait and clown like blinkers and shadow roll. I was able to find 2 of them but there was a lot. He is the perfect shade of grey to me, I love this coloring.

Wonderful photos. I don't think I've seen them before. I've only ever seen Skip Away in his racing tack as well.

Reminds me of these photos of Mission Impazible. I'd post them here but Sequel's website won't allow right clicking. You can't even view the photos in larger view, but here's the link. There's also a picture of Stephanoatsee on their website I love; he's frolicking in a field and it makes him look very powerful and not chubby.

I remember those photos of Skip Away! You're right; it was a fantastic set. I even had one of him rearing saved as my desktop wallpaper for a time.
