the Foal Patrol blog prediction is that La Verdad will foal tonight.

Time to eat dinner & then settle in with tea and popcorn!

Did you all see the pig patrol video on the Edition Farm page? Hilarious. They put a camera on the pig so you get a pig's eye view as it runs out of the barn and down to the paddocks squealing and grunting the whole way.

stupid question; if nature tells mares "foaling at night is safer" would all the lights be discouraging a mare from foaling?

Don't they wrap the mare's tail prior to her foaling? I would think if La Verdad would have her tail already wrapped if she is indeed foaling tonight.

The mare knows it is night time in spite of the lights, as horses do sense the passage of time (I'm not exactly sure how they specifically do it but trust that the horses at my barn get fed at 4 pm for dinner and at 4:05 pm if no one is getting the grain or the hay they WILL let you know

)
I was wondering though if the light would be an impediment to her sleeping comfortably- it's my first night watching her but I assume she's gotten used to it by now if they leave the lights on 24/7 for the cameras.

I'm not watching that feed, but is it possible that the lighting in the stall isn't regular white light? Maybe it's on the less-disturbing gold or red spectrum, and the cameras they're using can see just fine?

Blog post today says La Verdad had her leg wrapped (it is currently unwrapped) b/c of pregnancy-related swelling. It looks to me (?) like they changed the bedding in her foaling stall to shavings? Anyway she's eating her dinner and seems happy and not in labor yet.

I've been watching the La Verdad foal watch and they just took her out of the stall and replaced her with a mare that is grey, anyone know why?

In one of the vid clips from yesterday they said the mare across the way was reeeally close to foaling, they thought it might encourage La Verdad. Maybe it's that mare?

Otherwise I dunno, it just happened and there isn't any info up (blog or vid clip) yet.
