Bullet Liner, son of Sunday Silence, is now retired and he is the last Sunday Slience offspring running in JPN.
He mainly participated the races in MIZUSAWA racecourse (NAR) since 2008

Oh wow! Does that ever bring back memories. Golden SoCal days at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park. 1989...Sunday won the Derby and Preakness in the Spring. Secretariat died that October 4th. Sunday was named 3-year-old champion and HOTY. The great Bayakoa, trained by Ron McAnally, was named champion older female. Terrific year for SoCal racing. I began what would become a 25-year career in the auto industry. And my beloved German Wirehaired Pointer littermates, Annabelle and Wolf, were born on November 9th. The Berlin Wall came down that same day, November 9th. A momentous year for the world, horse racing, and for me personally.

By the way, laminitis took the lives of Secretariat, Sunday Silence and Bayakoa. When Red died, Penny Chenery rallied the industry, through the Grayson-Jockey Club Foundation, to work toward a cure. Today it was announced that laminitis survivor Lady Eli has been retired and will be bred to War Front. Laminitis survivor Paynter is at stud, and more horses are surviving this horrible disease. Yep, 1989 was a momentous year.

There's a conversation going on over in the What does "stamp his get" mean? thread, and IMHO Sunday' really did do that.
When you can see a grandson of a stallion that looks like his twin, I'd say Sunday' was stamping them like he was minting coins. ;)

Yes, this is a great example of stamping them.

It looks like Deep Sky(JPN)(Agnes Tachyon) has found his successor, as his 4yo colt Clincher(JPN) scored his first graded victory in the G2 Kyoto Kinen 2200m turf at Kyoto on Feb 11th 2018 beating four G1 winners including the 2017 Derby winner Rey de Oro(JPN)(King Kamehameha).

Deep Sky(JPN), 2005H. Agnes Tachyon(JPN) x Abi(GB) by Chief's Crown(USA), was the winner of the Japanese Derby in 2008.

Deep Sky is a gorgeous horse. Nice to see a grandson of not only Sunday Silence, but Chief's Crown doing well at stud. Chief's Crown was on his way to an excellent stud career when sadly he died at just 15.

That's a terrific win over some formidable rivals - the field included Al Ain, Deirdre, Mozu Katchan as well as Rey de Oro. 8-)

That's wonderful news for the Neo Universe branch, as Tosen Phantom(JPN)(Neo Universe) became Sunday Silence's 3rd grandson to sire a G1 winner following Victoire Pisa(JPN)(by Neo Universe, sire of Jeweller) and Orfevre(JPN) (by Stay Gold, sire of Lucky Lilac).

And I adore Brave Smash's pedigree, in whch we can find many familiar names that contributed to the Japanese racing in the past.
Image
First of all, Scarlet Ink(USA) is one of Shadai's greatest foundation broodmares, whom Zenya Yoshida introduced to Japan in 1973.
We can see a 4x4 Northern Taste(CAN), Real Shadai(USA), and Japan's superstar Tokai Teio(JPN) by Symboli Rudolf(JPN) in his 5 generations.
Birthday Rose(JPN) is a 1/2 sister to the stallions Agnes Gold(JPN) and Fusaichi Zenon(JPN), both of whom stood in the states.

Great looking stallions. What I especially like about that pedigree is almost completely free of the lines we see so often in the US. I believe it is important to keep the gene pool as broad as possible.

It really is a unique pedigree. And I like that the dam side has several names I haven't seen in a while like Symboli Rudolph and his son Tokai Teio, as well as prominent Japanese imports like Real Shadai and Northern Taste.

''Luck On Smash's Side''

Pedigree Notes:

Brave Smash, who has a yearling full-sister waiting in the wings, hails from the extended family of Japanese champion miler and successful sire Daiwa Major (Jpn) (Sunday Silence), who appears under the fourth dam alongside his half-sister, the champion filly and G1 Arima Kinen winner Daiwa Scarlet (Jpn) (Agnes Tachyon {Jpn}).

And, yes!!!! this is the first time Tokai Teio(JPN) made his mark in the G1 race as a broodmare sire.
I'm pretty sure that many old-Japanese-fans are thrilled with Brave Smash's success and now hoping he will be a stallion in Austaralia.
Tokai Teio is remembered as one of the most popular horses of all-time in the Japanese racing history.
The son of Symboli Rudolf(JPN) experienced a lot of setbacks and injuries during his racing career.
But he overcame all those diffiiculties.

Here below is the video of the 1993 Arima Kinen which is widely known as the ''Tokai Teio's miraculous comeback''.
He won his final race off a 364 days layoff nailing the race-favorite Biwa Hayahide(JPN).
