Foaling season has officially started at Summer Wind Farm. Last night, this handsome colt by Medaglia d’Oro and out of Belle Watling (love that name) made his grand entrance. Belle Watling is the dam of graded stakes winner, WAR STORY as well as graded stakes winner, LAND OVER SEA. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this big guy!

FASHION CAT delivered a big strong EXAGGERATOR filly this morning at Atlas farm. Already the dam of G2 winner Corfu & current 3yo colt New York Central. Another bay with a big star, Looks like betting on EXAGGERATOR is paying out, a substantial foal oozing quality @WinStarCEO #SF

Very sad, hope she does her mama proud:

SF bred & part owned colt NEW YORK CENTRAL takes the final at @OaklawnRacing in 1:47.01, he was raised to be tough at Atlas farm & today showed us he has a lot of fight in him. Sadly his dam passed away post foaling this winter but her EXAGGERATOR colt [corrected to filly] is a stunner #HerLegacy

Something must have gone wrong very suddenly, as that first tweet is pretty positive. RIP Fashion Cat

Whoops, looks like I mistakenly posted Molly Morgan's colt by Pioneerof the Nile in "Matings 2018" sorry.

Love mares like Evrobi. She’s like clockwork.. she foaled last night at @HartwellFarm farm. A big classy Carpe Diem filly. Currently enjoying this balmy 77 degree KY day. She’s a half sister to G1 winner Tell A Kelly. This baby is a SF/Hartwell partnership.

From Woodford Thoroughbred's Facebook:
Foal #25 was born via cesarean at Rood and Riddle which saved the life of mare and foal. After observing Yes It's Jackie (a half sister to Champion Abel Tasman) laboring the decision was made to put her on the trailer and rush her to the clinic. Although having contractions, the mare wasn't dilating and an emergency c-section was performed at the clinic. This beautiful filly by Outwork is doing well and so is her momma. We are so thankful to everyone who played a roll in keeping these two alive.

For those who work/ have worked on TB breeding farms, Wonder why the Bella brother foal has a shaved area over his jugular vein.. plasma transfusion? How commonly is this done? Precaution/ routine if don’t nurse enough and numbers low on blood count? Or milk low in immunoglobulins? Thanks

I would say he probably received plasma unless he got really sick and needed an IV. The farm I work at only does plasma for foals that were affected by Placentitis when they were in the womb. The college I went to did plasma on every foal because the soil there tested positive for rhodococcus, and they wanted the foals’ immune systems to get a little boost on fighting the bacteria. In the end, it depends on the farm whether they do plasma or not.

I worked at a major farm in Lexington that did plasma transfusions for every new foal.

Stakes winner NICKYS BROWN MISS Just foaled a big black beauty by five time G1 winner FLINTSHIRE in Normandy an hour ago at Haras des Capucine. One day Flintshire will be a [global emoji] leading turf sire. He has it all. Pedigree durability and the ability to accelerate.
