And in bigger news, our best mare to be covered by Tapit this weekend. Let's hope she catches on first cover to preserve some value in the mare.
Wonderful news for you! Love to see pics if you have.

Huge congratulations to all their connections and the best of luck to the foals. Hope they grow into fine racehorses.

Handling motherhood like a pro especially since she’s a maiden.

So cute. The little fella is sitting there like he's had a few too many, then wobbles up to mom.

Not entirely uncommon with colts... at least that is what I was always taught working on a Halfi stud farm.

"Normal" gestation for a horse is 320 to 370 days. Most people use day 340 as their approximate due date. For a mare to foal on a day in the 350s (which would qualify as "weeks late") is not at all unusual.

Ah, I didn't know there was such a large variation (I knew a week or even two wasn't a big deal, the plural just made me go :? :D) Thanks for the explanation.

Didn't I read when Zenyatta's foal died that carrying longer than normal can increase the risk of meconium aspiration? (IIRC, that foal was pretty late.)
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Cairo Prince x Shovalla colt born Valentine's Day (credit: GMB racing). Dam is by Ghostzapper... and has an interesting bottom half of the pedigree.
