This incident forced the racing authorities to change the rules on coupled entries when one is scratched the other one to run for purse only.
Name the track and what happened to force them to change the rules.
Btw, i was there that night!! Hint.

Since no one has posted .... 1981 at Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J.? No details given.

>The rule change was made [for New York tracks] in response to a disturbance by fans at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J., several weeks ago when a horse they had considered the stronger half of an entry was scratched and the remaining half of the entry finished out of the money. The stewards ordered a refund an hour later, but many fans had discarded or cashed valid tickets by then. New Jersey and Pennsylvania have also revised their rules along the same lines.< [November 27, 1981]
>Under the new rule, which took effect yesterday [Nov. 26, 1981], if a horse that is part of a coupled entry or field is scratched after betting has begun, all bets on the entry or field will be refunded.<

Angel Cordero was on the horse that got scratched! And i think they where 1/9 on the board. I did see some people set some garbage cans on fire. Another thing was that the horse got scratched while all the other horses where in the gate and no one had a chance to cancel their tickets! I bet against the entry so it made no difference to me!!

Time to wake up this sleepy thread with a fairly easy one.
Who was the first female trainer to run a horse in the Kentucky Derby? What was the horses name, what year, and where did it place?
Also, what horse won the derby that year?

Not sure if she's the first, but certainly my favorite was Shelly Riley with Casual Lies in 1992. "Stanley" came in 2nd to Lil E Tee. Proud moment for Northern California fans, particularly those at Pleasanton.WarBiscuit wrote:Time to wake up this sleepy thread with a fairly easy one.
