A.P Indy- Honor Code is a good example. HC has more bling to him- but you can tell who daddy is.
By extension- HC is really marking his foals as well. I think its that eye that draws you in
What does "stamp his get" mean?

I thought of this thread thanks to a post on facebook about Cairo Prince, Midnight Storm and American Pharoah

American Pharoah
and for fun,
Social Inclusion
imho this is an example of a stallion that stamps his get particularly with his wide, strong shoulder his strong hip and his topline (strong if slightly flat back). He even seems to be stamping them with a slightly longer loin. The necks are also similar in shape from the throatlatch down, although they seem to vary in thickness and length. Cairo Prince has a bit more of a swan-like neck, Pharoah has a neck that is a tad too short from an aesthetic point of view. The chest is also consistent both in how the neck ties into it and in shape. Their heads and are pretty different though. They all have very nice angulation as well, nice straight legs although Social Inclusion borders on the post-y with his pasterns. The overall shape and impression of the horses are similar - rectangular bodied but long legged.
The wide shoulder makes sense since PotN's smooth efficient action he got from Empire Maker and passed it down to Pharoah and CP as far as I can remember. And one of the comments about CP's yearlings was being stamped with a wide shoulder and a far reaching, strong walking stride.

We need to remember that the pre-race photos of a field that Tachyon provides are of horses who are race-fit and lean. The above photos are mostly of mature stallions who have had time to fill out.
I must say that the Danzigs seem to really fill out their bellies.

Are those Bend Or spots? I've seen other pics of her and she doesn't have them. Could it be reverse dappling?Delamont wrote:I was just about to ask the same thing.Miss Woodford wrote:Off topic, but are those are the craziest Bend Or spots (?) I've ever seen.Ridan_Remembered wrote: Quiet Giant

To me it looks like a sunbleached coat that didn't clip out great. Or just a bay horse who didn't clip out great in general. When our horses get their first clipping after going from Canada to Florida for the winter, they look dull and faded with odd dapples. Takes a few weeks for their coats to grow out and get shiny again.

I think you might be right. The same photo is with her pedigree here: http://www.pedigreequery.com/quiet+giant but another photo shows her differently, a bay with no spots. I used the first photo for the comparison to her son because it is a conformation photo.Northport wrote:To me it looks like a sunbleached coat that didn't clip out great. While on the subject of Quiet Giant (although this may be wandering away from the original subject ), Paulick has an interesting article on her pedigree.

If the female side makes the best stallions, Gun Runner could be a very good sire.

The term “stamp his get” comes from a physical stand-point (conformation), not colour. I think PoTN is a great example, but I also think he’s passing along Unbridled traits.
I think Speightstown stamps his get with that big butt.
I’m on the fence about Tapit - he does stamp some of his get, but a lot of them resemble the dam/damsire.
Those aren’t Bend Or spots.

For Tapit, I think he doesn’t stamp them at all. I can’t post the photos of some of his get, but they range in size and shape. They tend to look much more like their dams or dam sire - which maybe that’s good sometimes.
