The 2 year old full sister to the #BeastFromTheEast; MAURICE; has been named.

Here's MARNI (Screen Hero x Mejiro Frances).
Marni means 'Rejoice' in Hebrew

Attractive filly for sure but so much less white than her brothers.

I think the boys take after their grandsire, Carnegie (IRE) with the bay/bling. I haven't been able to find any photos of Mejiro Frances so it's hard to tell if maybe the filly is more like her dam...?

ETA: The granddam, Mejiro Monterey, was also dark bay with some white markings...

Does anyone have any updates on Chasing Yesterday, the now 2 year old half to American Pharoah by Tapit? I know Summer Wind was keeping her but that's about it.

Here are the picks of Mejiro Frances(JPN) that were taken in 2015 with her Screen Hero(JPN) colt Lucas(JPN) and Mr. & Mrs. Togawa.

at Togawa Bokujo, a family-run small farm at Hidaka District in Hokkaido.

Mejiro Frances died unfortunately in 2016 immediately after she gave birth to her Screen Hero filly.
I strongly hope that Marni(JPN) will do well.

Oh, thank you for the pics of Mejiro Frances & Lucas, tachyon. How sad that she died from foaling complications - she was a beautiful mare. We are lucky to have Maurice & Lucas from her, and hopefully Marni will do well too.

Dreaming of Jo Jo (Malibu Moon out of the recently-deceased Dreaming of Anna) just won the 9th at Gulfstream, a 5 1/2-furlong maiden claiming for 3yo. A $12,500 maiden claiming.

A couple of entrants in the 8th at Santa Anita, a 6 1/2-furlong AOC for F&M 4yo+up, have very interesting dams: Not Now Carolyn (Tapit x Maryfield) and Life's Blessings (Tapit x Indian Blessing). Tapit gets to date all the cool girls. :P

From the DRF:
...Zedan Racing Stables, which also races Shane Zain, the front-running winner of a one-mile race Sunday. He could run next in the Grade 3, $500,000 Southwest on Feb. 19 at Oaklawn.

“If he’s doing well, it would be a good test for him,” O’Neill said. “He’s bred to be a good horse.”

Shane Zain is by Medaglia d’Oro and out of the Grade 2-winning mare My Gi Gi.

Wasn't Not Now Carolyn the one named after the post-Belmont commentary by Coburn  ?

Song of Mine vied for third down the backstretch, but then found nothing down the lane. Finished 6th, I think.
She's a pretty bay with some resemblance to her sis, so I hope she can improve off this 'meh' debut.

Although it is January of her 3 y/o year, most Ghostzappers get better with age. Hopefully she'll do better next time out.

"Baby Girl" will try and get off the snide today- and show her breeding.
If she cant do this in a MSW with a $18,500 purse- may be time to send her to the shed
