It seems to me there have been a lot of chromey babies this year--and Chrome hasn't even contributed yet!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Anchor Down sires first reported foal
Multiple graded stakes winner Anchor Down, a miler by leading sire Tapit, was represented by his first reported foal Jan. 16, a gray colt born at Phoenix Farm near Georgetown, Ky.

Bred by Chad Frederick and Phoenix Farm and Racing, the colt was produced from the Curlin mare Black Coronas, herself a daughter of graded stakes-placed stakes winner Tres Coronas. The immediate family includes Grade 3 winner Dark Nile.

“The foal is an impressive colt with good size and a lot of bone and substance,” said Gainesway director of sales Michael Hernon. “Anchor Down was a top miler on the New York circuit, so I would expect his foals to be fast like he was.”

Wonderful photos! The farm ought to use the third one as their next Christmas card. :D
In the first photo, Twistaway seems to be saying, "Son, this is your human. Say hello."

I already can't stop watching Sabbatical and her War Front foal, born this morning, on Foal Patrol.

I wonder if this filly is the first foal for Leontes.

I love that they put a bed of straw for the foals to sleep in when they're out in the snow.

Watching Sabbatical nom some hay while her new baby boy snoozes in the straw. Mom is bright eyed and keeps looking out the window.

Wish I felt so alert hours after birth.

The only downside to this is when the mare is positioned in such a way as to block the foal from camera view

First foal of the year born in Kentucky. Flintshire/Last Resort filly. The mare was pretty talented, she won a maiden special weight race at Belmont and then an allowance at Delaware during her three year old year, but chipped an ankle ankle which got infected after surgery, so she had to be retired. She will be bred to Bayern this year.

Sturdy looking foal. Can't tell if it's chestnut or a light bay. Looks like the baby has white on the face and at least one leg. The mare is a stakes winner, bay by Bernstein x Pyrite Captain by Magesterial. Announcement from TM:

#CaliforniaChrome is officially a Daddy! Our friends at @CalumetFarm had the first foal from the 2x Horse of The Year last night. It’s a big colt out of Pay The Man! We will issue an official press release shortly, followed by more photos tomorrow! Congrats to all connections

Think he might be bay. Typical fawn colored legs of a bay baby, and his tail looks dark.
