The American Pharoah yearling colt, a half to Caravaggio, just sold at the Keeneland sale for $1,000,000. He was handsome, but also very fuzzy.

He won a G1 at Meydan in 2017. He'll be one of AP Indy's last sons headed to stud duty when he finally goes to stud.

I'm surprised/impressed that he's still running. He'd be worth a mint as a stallion. Unless there are fertility issues we don't know about...

Long River finished fourth. Heavy Metal won and Thunder Snow was second.

* Unfortunately, Long River's fourth wasn't that impressive. The first three were strung out with multiple lengths between them, and LR was lengths behind them. The only thing I liked about his race was that he was the only of the top group who changed leads in the stretch. I'd love to see him get a group/graded stakes win this year, so this mature son of Indy could find a nice, comfy breeding farm.
* When Thunder Snow won the UAE Derby last year, I remember thinking, 'that boy really needs to learn to switch to his right lead for the Derby.' From what I saw this morning, he still hasn't learned how. :? :P

Long River is a G1SW in the UAE. He hasn't raced in the US since 2014. He has just raced at Meydan during January - March since 2015 and then doesn't resurface until the next year. I would imagine if/when he does go to stud it will be in Saudi Arabia, they have bought alot of A.P. Indy sons.

The 6:40 at Wolverhampton tomorrow, a 2m 1/2f Conditions Stakes on All Weather, has two relations to superstars in it. Firstly, Godolphin's Frontiersman, a Listed Stakes winner and G1 and G2 runner up in 2017. He is out of Ouija Board and half to Australia. If he wins, he could be targeted at the All Weather Championship Marathon at Lingfield on Good Friday, or at the Dubai Gold Cup on World Cup Day.

Also in the race is De Coronado, full to Zenyatta, making his first start for new connections. His only two wins have come over the All Weather at Dundalk, and the family has plenty of stamina. Could be a pretty good race for a Monday... on the AW... in January... in England!

I like the time (not at the crack of dawn? yay)...but I wonder if TVG will be so busy showing an unfrozen Aqueduct that The British races will get bumped to their "Racebook." Or maybe TVG2, which so many of us can't get?

I emailed Rich&Nick earlier this morning to alert them about the Wolverhampton race, but it's looking like there will be no races from Britain on this morning's TVG slate. Phooey.
I took a look at the Wolverhampton card on RacingPost, and De Coronado is 66/1. Ouch.

Nice start for Faversham (R3 Santa Anita] -- broke slow, took his time figuring it out and crossed the wire a closing second.

Yeah, surprised to see him so far back early, but he finished well.

Faversham finished 2nd beaten by 1 1/4 lengths, on January 15, 2018, at SANTA ANITA PARK in Race 3.
Off odds: 8.90

Faversham broke slowly and trailed the field going up the backstretch. Then he seemedm to finally get it in gear, passed horses around the turn and got up for 2nd. It looked like he has some competitive spirit, because he seemed to focus on the horse in front of him and tried to go get him. Not a bad debut.
Not surprised he lost his first race, and he looks like he could improve. The winner, Violent Ridge, is by Volence, who is proving to be very good at getting precocious runners.
