I think Japan will be a good fit for Drefong; certainly more than this country. He was fast and talented, yes; but I am not sure breeders would have been lining up to breed to a son of Gio Ponti. And I think he will be a nice outcross for a lot of the mares in Japan.

He also won the 1998 Jacques Le Marois in France; joining the likes of DUBAI MILLENNIUM, DUBAWI, LEAR FAN, MIESQUE, GOLDIKOVA etc

Happy retirement Taiki Shuttle!!

I believe that Taiki Shuttle(USA)(Devil's Bag) is the best miler that Japan has ever seen, while Lord Kanaloa(JPN)(King Kamehameha) is the best sprinter.

Shaman Ghost to Enter Stud in California

The Stronach family has started following through on its commitment to build up the California-bred program by sending three stallions to the Golden State for the 2018 breeding season.

The highest-profile horse of the group will be multiple grade 1 winner and Canadian champion Shaman Ghost , who Frank Stronach said will stand in California next year.

"He will be very exciting for the California breeders," Stronach said Dec. 2 in an exclusive interview with BloodHorse Daily. "I don't know where he will stand yet. I will be out there next week to look at a few farms. We'll make a decision in the next week or so."

Stronach said he'll stand the son of his homebred 2004 Horse of the Year Ghostzapper for $10,000.

Maybe Frank will "shuttle" SG between Canada and California for alternating seasons. That would be pretty easy to do.
I wonder which farm will be chosen for 'Ghost? He will be joining the nice Bernardini son, Stay Thirsty, as a welcome additions to Cali breeding, something that is much needed. Cali has lost some important stallions in the last couple of years, like perennial stalwart Unusual Heat and 'Chrome's sire, Lucky Pulpit.

So true. The entire thoroughbred industry in California is struggling, so any help they can get is most welcome.

If he was going to be sold overseas, I thought he might end up in Australia. IIRC, Artie has shuttled there and seems to have done pretty well.
Damn...we not only have to worry about North Korea's cray-cray behavior, but also all "our" horses right next door to a country that has no compunction about exposing its human citizens to radiation, let alone a neighbor's animals.

Hold on. He may just have a record in the Korean Studbook. He is not listed on their import list (yet). Perhaps he will simply not return to the US after shuttling to Australia.
