That's interesting. I never would have pegged Point Given as a good fit for the KHP, where the horses get a lot of attention from fans. Didn't think he was a people person/pony. :?
IIRC, Calumet tries to ride their healthy stallions to keep them fit, but I read that PG wasn't interested playing that game. That he made his opinion about being ridden 'for fitness' clear by dropping his riders or even rolling on them. When a seventeen-hand, burly stallion doesn't want you on his back, you probably aren't going to be riding him. :P
Maybe he's mellowed in his middle age. Or maybe he's friendly as long as you aren't carrying a saddle? :D

He was pretty mellow and friendly at Three Chimneys....as long as they didn't ride him.

He was at Three Chimneys when that happened? Thanks for the correction, I did not 'remember correctly,' I guess. ;)

He hasn't been at Calumet more than about 5 years, I'd say?

Correct, he moved right before the start of the 2013 breeding season.

Bullet Train is headed to Ireland after his US flop. At Woodfield Farm Stud, he'll be offered as both a flat and jumps sire.

What I don't get is them saying he'll be joining in April 2018. He's already been there several weeks.....??

And another story about Fipke and his breeding program:

Bloodlines: Fipke Finds Success With ‘Soul’ Matings
With a stunning victory in the Grade 1 Clark Handicap, Seeking the Soul became the second G1 winner for his sire, the veteran stallion Perfect Soul (by Sadler's Wells). The stallion's previous winner at the premier level is Perfect Shirl, winner of the 2011 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, and in an ironic turn of chance, both victories came at Churchill Downs.

In addition to this pair, Perfect Soul is the sire of Golden Soul, who was second in the 2013 Kentucky Derby behind Orb, and of Perfect Timber, who was second in the G1 Northern Dancer at Woodbine.

Bred and raced by Canadian precious minerals tycoon Charles Fipke, like his sire, Seeking the Soul is out of the Seeking the Gold mare Seeking the Title, a granddaughter of the great racemare and producer Personal Ensign.

Sid Fernando, president of Werk Thoroughbred Consultants and an adviser to Fipke, recalled the circumstances that led to the production of the Clark winner's dam.

There's a rumor running around Twitter that Drefong has been retired and will stand at Shadai Stallion Station. Anybody hear anything official about this?

Mike “Slim” Spector‏ @SaratogaSlim
Yahoo report from Japan: Champion sprinter DREFONG has been sold to Shad Stallion Station in Japan & will stand stud next year. If reports are correct, good luck in retirement to one of the best sprinters we’ve seen in recent years!

I posted it up there ^^

It's also on Graham Pavey's twitter timeline (@LongBallToNoOne) with links to Japanese articles. Seems pretty legit.

Oh sorry, I missed that. Still would think there'd be some sort of official announcement or at least something on Bloodhorse or DRF. Gio Ponti was one of my favorite racehorses and Drefong his best son so far. I'm okay with him standing at Shadai, just want to know for sure if he's retired and where to look for news about his progeny.

Alright, here's the story in the DRF. I'm thinking he'll get some good mares at Shadai, maybe put a little speed in those lovely classic bloodlines.

Sprint champ Drefong retired, will enter stud duty at Shadai Stallion Station in Japan
Drefong, the Eclipse Award-winning male sprinter of 2016, the year he won the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, has been retired from racing and will be moving to Japan to take up stud duty at Shadai Stallion Station, it was announced late Wednesday by the Baoma Corporation of Susan and Charles Chu, who owned Drefong.

Drefong, 4, won six times in nine starts during his career, including two important Grade 1 races at Saratoga – the King’s Bishop Stakes in 2016 at age 3, and this year’s Forego. His other victories were against maidens as a 2-year-old at Del Mar in 2015, and in a pair of allowance races at age 3, both at Santa Anita.

This year, Drefong raced three times. He lost jockey Mike Smith shortly after the start of the Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar in his first start of the year, then won the Forego before his final start, a sixth-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint on Nov. 4 when attempting to defend his title. Owing to the pending move to Japan, he was moved into quarantine in Kentucky shortly after the Breeders’ Cup.

Drefong is a colt by Gio Ponti and is out of the Ghostzapper mare Eltimaas. He was purchased by the Chus as a yearling for $450,000. He was trained throughout his career by Bob Baffert. He earned $1,538,385.
