Thanks for posting! It's nice seeing that beautiful horse still doing what he apparently loves. Jose's name got called a lot, lol. Good to hear from the trainer and owner that the hottie still loves what he does and will continue racing.starrydreamer wrote:Thanks for posting! He is a bit awkward looking. Majorly back at the knee too, which is the bigger concern racing-wise.

What does "nest" mean, specifically?starrydreamer wrote:

I'm going to guess that is short for neckchest.
His neck is set on so low that it just morphs into his chest. The look is not flattered by what appears to be a not-very-deep shoulder.

That is exactly what a nest is.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:I'm going to guess that is short for neckchest.

FWIW, his year-older full sister Nothing But Dreams retired unraced.

Frankel may have been a great racehorse, but it seems like his ability to pass on his talent has been kind of hit or miss. His connections may still be finding out what genetics work for him and what don't...and it looks like Danedream's don't.

I don't know if I would mentioned 'hit or miss' to the people paying $230,000 USD to breed to him in 2018. He only had two G1 winners in 2017, but he had 14 G2/G3 winners. 57% winners to runners strike rate, 12% group winners to foals.

I'm not implying he isn't doing well but, IIRC, he got a TON of G1 and G1-producing mares in his first couple of seasons. With the quality of mares he got, it's little surprise that there are many winners in those crops.
But...I do think some of his more famous "dates" haven't done as well with him as their owners may have hoped. And with all those top-notch mares, he may not be meeting the sky-high expectations.
IMHO, his next few crops may do better, as his stallion manager dials in what works with him and what doesn't.

Declarationofpeace (War Front x Serena's Cat) is running in a few minutes, in the not-a-BC-race, the Qatar Juvenile Turf Sprint.

Holy Cat! He was last coming into the turn, was behind a pack of horses...and still managed to find a way through the scrum and get up to win by a nose! Really nice performance by the big, handsome colt.

I was super impressed by the filly Out of the Flames, too... pity she had such a slow start. But what a great finish between Sound and Silence & Declaration of Peace!

Holy crap! He really threaded the needle thru the field and came on like a freight train . Very happy he showed up and ran to his blood and looks. I didn't realize just how deep black he was until now. What a legacy Serena has given us.
