Tanino Frankel (JPN) - Frankel x Vodka (JPN) broke his maiden with an easy win at Hanshin, 2000m on yielding turf.

He looks a bit like Vodka. If he can run like his great mom, he could have a very bright future.

Goodness, these royally-bred horses in Japan have really been running to their pedigrees lately.

Here's a better look at him, 526kg (1160lbs) & very solidly built. 8-)

Hmm, in a related note - does anyone know what happened with Vodka's other daughter by Sea the Stars - Case by Case (IRE)? Pedigree Query says she was unregistered by the JRA in 2015, what does that mean...?

Yep...looks like mom.
IIRC, Vodka is a sizable mare, and Frankel probably needed lifts in his shoes for their date. :P

I may have no comment on the quote posted on an unreliable source like pedigree-query, haha.

But I'm sure that Case by Case is now in foal to Orfevre after having slipped her foal by the same sire last year.

Oh yay, happy news! And yeah, I know PQ can be sketchy so that's why I asked...

Gorgeous George lives on as granddaughter gains stakes success
Listed win for filly out of late George Washington's only foal
George Washington managed to impregnate only one mare during a brief stallion career curtailed due to infertility ten years ago, but the result of that sole successful mating is doing her best to ensure Coolmore's iconic Classic hero will feature in pedigrees for some time.

Cute video clip of Tanino Frankel (JPN) being a typical two-year-old colt with the "I'm gonna bite you if I can" game (I have no explanation for the piano cover of Linkin Park's 'Numb' as the background music, tho :? )

De Coronado (full to Zenyatta) won today at Dundalk.

He seems to like the AW. Maybe they ought to send him over here and see if he likes dirt.

Thanks for that update on Zen's not-so-little brother. I was just thinking about him yesterday and wondering what had become of him.
Like the Big Mare, he appears to also be a late-bloomer, and I agree that he might do better over here. IIRC, O'Brien said something about him being the largest colt he had trained, which doesn't usually help on the grass, especially good to soft turf.

"I thought he'd win if I could get into the middle of the track where the quickest ground is," said Heffernan.

"He needs a dead level surface - he's a dirt horse. He's probably still a bit immature. He was a wee bit green and immature.

"He has an amazing pedigree but has let us down a bit before. I thought I'd win if I was able to get up the middle of the track with him."

He's gorgeous, and it would appear that his rider is quite sure about where...and on what...he needs to run. ;)
Man, I really hope Coolmore decides to send him over The Pond to a trainer here. (Who would you choose?)
He's got a tremendous stallion pedigree, but he really needs to earn some black type to go along with that..

Big Smoky(JPN), 2015C. King Kamehameha(JPN) x Smok'n Frolic(USA), broke his maiden by 5 lengths going 1800m dirt at Hanshin 1R Sep 23rd 2017. He is a massive colt. 3-1-2-0.

He won, despite being wide. I thought it was a handy performance.

War Chest (War Front x Wine Princess, who is by Ghostzapper x Azeri) just won the 7th at Belmont, a 1-mile MSW on the grass for a bunch of well-bred 2yos.

Yay!!
Danon Smash(JPN), 2015C. Lord Kanaloa(JPN) x Spinning Wildcat(USA) by Hard Spun(USA), broke his maiden easily at second try going 1400m turf at Hanshin 2R Sep 24th 2017.
It looks like Spinning Wildcat is a good producer for either surface.
