On day 1, Ulysses impressively won the Juddmonte International franking Enable's form (he was a well beaten 2nd to her in the King George).

In the final furlong, you could just hear the crowd clapping as she trounced the field! She's clearly very special to the British race-goers!

Scot H. on TVG just made the case for Enable being the best turf horse in the world, better even than Winx. Those may be fighting words for some folks, but look at who Enable has beaten; Ulysses (won the Juddmonte International yesterday), Idaho (Hardwicke Stakes, will be favored in Saturday's Sword Dancer), Highland Reel (has won too many races to list), and pretty much every filly and mare in the Isles.
She's going to be the heavy favorite for the Arc...although this year's French classic may not be a strong edition. Ulysses and Idaho are headed to the BC, Postponed, Almanzor and Minding have been retired, and I don't know what the plans are for Highland Reel. Not sure Coolmore want their classy veteran to watch another filly's flanks finish in front of him like Found's did.

Marsha nips her on the wire after Frankie waits way too long to push the button then celebrated like he'd won. Pretty embarrassing from the jockey but the top two were well clear from the rest.

It was a great race from the two fillies, but IMHO Lady A was disadvantaged by the delayed start. After most of the field was loaded (and LA was one of the first in), Bataash spent several minutes acting up and dragging a flock of handlers around...mostly backwards.
Possibly as a result of standing for so long, LA did not get away sharply like she usually does. She ended up in the middle of a press of horses and had to work to get to her preferred spot at the front.
Frankie may have been trying to give her a little breather after that, and waited...maybe a nose too long...to drive her the last furlong or so.

Somewhat disappointing result for Satono Diamond (JPN) at the Prix Foy at Chantilly... great stalking run by Dschingis Secret (GER) and when they hooked up eye-to-eye, Satono Diamond folded.

Satono Diamond reportedly came out of the race with a small cut to his inside hind leg that is not expected to hinder his start in the Arc, where they will meet again.

Order of St. George, off of his nine-length route, may go next in the Arc of to Australia for the Melbourne Cup. I hope it's the latter.

Across the Other Pond (the Pacific), unsettling news that may have a negative impact on Australian/Hong Kong racing.

Australia Regulator to Suspend Hong Kong Shippers
Travel suspension would begin Oct. 2, 2017

With the Conghua Training Centre on the Chinese Mainland scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2018, the Australia Department of Agriculture and Wager Resources (DAWR) has informed the Hong Kong Jockey Club that it intends to suspend horse movements from Hong Kong to Australia beginning Oct. 2, 2017.
The DAWR said the suspension will begin pending a review of the biosecurity controls related to the Equine Disease Free Zone (EDFZ) between Hong Kong and Conghua in the Chinese Mainland. The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) expressed disappointment in the DAWR's decision.
The HKJC said implications of the suspension will include:
• Horses will not be able to be transported directly from Hong Kong to Australia for participation in racing events or for retirement purposes.
• Australian horses will not be permitted to travel to compete in Hong Kong's international races.
• Hong Kong horses transported to Australia via New Zealand will require 180 days residency in New Zealand.

While the development of high-quality TB racing in China has been (mostly) welcomed, I'm not surprised that there are going to be obstacles, especially concerning disease issues.
China has what could be kindly described as an opaque and complicated bureaucracy. Trusting that Chinese disease controls are as rigorous as your own country may be hard to do and Australia has, IIRC, very rigorous quarantine standards.

The race before the St. Leger was the Champagne, a G2 for 2yos. The $3 million Scat Daddy yearling, Mendelssohn (half to Beholder, etc.), finished 7th and last, unfortunately
The race was won by the other O'Brien-trained Scat Daddy colt, Seahenge, out of Fools In Love by Not For Love. That's all USA breeding.

I know Ryan Moore is technically the Ballydoyle Stable Jockey, but in the last few weeks, when it comes to Moore vs. Donnacha O'Brien, O'Brien Jr. seems to comes out on top!

Aidan O'Brien could have four horses running in the Arc - Capri, Highland Reel (2nd last year), Order of St George (3rd), and the filly Winter. IMHO (and Paddy Power & Betfair's opinions ) all of them have a chance.

I would think that it's a toss up between Capri and Winter.
And I hope that Ryan will pick up Winter who I think has the best shot.

It's hard to ignore how well three-year-old fillies (weight break!) have done over the last decade in the Arc, so I agree with you. Still have to favor Enable over Winter when it comes to the fillies, but I wouldn't be surprised if those two are in front at the finish.

Zayat paid 1.6M euros for a Frankel colt at Goffs today. Aidan O'Brien will train at Ballydoyle.

O'Brien may have SEVEN horses in the Arc. In addition to the four mentioned above, add Cliffs of Moher, Idaho and Seventh Heaven.
