If they have a head and four legs, I'd expect there to be high bids on these, especially the Scat Daddy, since there aren't going to be any more after this crop. :(

Hip 153 - c. Candy Ride x Common Hope - full to Shared Belief
Bet they won't geld this one. :P

There was a Scat Daddy mare running at Marquis Downs last year, forget her name, in a bottom level claimer. I think she was a scratch, but I noticed her because he'd just died.

How often do mares like this (under such circumstances) get picked up for breeding, or is the female line (which had nothing of note in her case) still a disqualifying factor?

Just a general interest question...

That is how Ken Ramsey pretty much built his broodmare band, just claiming mares.

I remember her name now -- Rareness.

She sure does seem to stamp her offspring.

I didn't think much of the War Front x Affectionately filly until I saw her walk. She's very pretty.

For those who don't know, the Keeneland Book 1 enhanced catalog has some great photos and videos.

And I am in love with Hip 85, the Distorted Humor x Serenading colt. The Distorted Humor really comes out in him and he looks very mature. Also, I love Hip 103 (c. Candy Ride x Theycallmeladyluck). And Hip 105. And Hip 121. And Hip 145. And Hip 161.

83 yearlings from the last Scat Daddy crop. In one sale. Seriously....does anyone breed to race anymore??

I'm sure if he were still around, only 50 or so would be in the sale ;)

I'm curious what the Deep Impact filly (hip 151) will bring. She's out a graded stakes-winning half-sister to Lil's Lad, and the first Deep Impact filly to go to auction in the US.

So I went to look and apparently Fasig-Tipton has just finished (literally today) a Turf sale? Which I thought was interesting but apparently lots of buybacks & RNAs. However, top-selling colts were Scat Daddies.

Also there was this:
DRFBreeding‏ @DRFBreeding

Hip 101, War Front filly o/o a stakes producing sister to champion Storm Flag Flying, brings hammer down at 375K. Details to follow. #FTTurf

Since Coolmore has often bred their top stallions to 150+ mares, I suspect that dozens of his yearlings (maybe some of the best?) are still with their breeders. I'd look for Coolmore to be debuting a bunch of Scat Babies next year. :P

IIRC, the Honor Code siblings/half siblings out there haven't quite lived up to their purchase prices. I think Coolmore has a gorgeous (and very expensive) brother...and I'm not sure he's broken his maiden.
That all may lead to a bit less money for the Tapit half than he might have gotten a year ago.

Well Scat Daddy produced 169 live foals in that crop so...

Normally I wouldn't be so happy that Coolmore books their stallions to SO many mares but, in SD's case, I guess I'm grateful. :(

He broke his maiden in May :) He hasn't done much after that though... was 7th last out in the G1 Phoenix Stakes

Thanks for the correction...but it sounds like he's still underachieving relative to his cost. (And I know I should be able to find that figure...maybe tomorrow? ).
