yeah, and i wasnt joking, i really meant that - i don't worry about them. they look happy and healthy, i just want them back here because i miss them, lol. horses like silver charm got 13 mares last year, and ten this year, i'm mildly surprised they haven't offered them back to make room for possibly more popular horses.Izvestia wrote:http://www.oldfriendsequine.org/default.aspx

I think people care. I also think it is a very public issue.
I agree, the horses look amazingly well cared for. I think when people fly off the handle about stallions going overseas, they should look at what happens on their own turf.

After having seen Asia Express's romp in the G1 Asahi Hai Futurity, I have no dougt the Hennessy line wil play a major role in the breeding in Japan next year.
But, which stallion would you be bred to, Johannesburg or Henny Hughes and why? -- assuming that these two stallions will be offered at the same stud fee.
Any thoughts, please?

Both have proven themselves as good racehorses and sires, but for me, Johannesburg was one of the best two year olds of all time, and being able to win at the highest level on turf and dirt is exceptional. I am a little biased because I have always liked him but between Henny Hughes and him I would go with Johannesburg. His sons Scat Daddy and Teuflesberg are having a bit of an impact so that has some appeal as well.

He started in Sweden but went to Brazil. I'm not sure if he went back to Sweden again. He is standing at Haras Estrela Energia. There is an article from October 2013, its in Portuguese so its translates kind of funny.Northport wrote:Does anyone know where Gloria De Campeao stands now? He was in Sweden when he retired but I he isn't on their website anymore and I can't seem to find a stallion fee past 2011
Gloria De Campeao article
"There are two packages Champion for sale: the first is called guarantee of pregnancy, and involves many afternoons of love necessary until the mare getting pregnant. The second, cheaper, takes the title of every risk. The female gets two meetings with the stallion and the result of them is not at all certain, despite the investment of R $ 10 thousand."

He is really quite a handsome boy and a fantastic pedigree. Hope he does well. From what they said he overcame alot just to survive, let alone race and have pretty solid earnings.TapitsGal wrote:Keep Up a son of Keeper Hill has retired to stud at Mill Ridge Farms

Looks from various tweets as though he is not retired. I sure hope they try him on grass.ChiLex wrote:Not sure if it means anything or not, but Verrazano was absent from Ashford's stud fee ad in the TDN on Saturday. Could mean they haven't set a fee, but I would not be surprised if he stayed in training.

doesn't sound like it, from what I have read. I cannot see a lot of appeal in him as a stallion with the record he has so maybe he did but they just aren't mentioning it? He will stand for $6,500pointgivenfan wrote:Was he injured?Northport wrote:Forty Tales to Sequel Stallions NY

He can't attend his own retirement ceremony that will be held at Nakayama on Monday, either.Northport wrote:Eishin Flash has been injured and retired to Shadai. He was prepping for his 4th tilt at the Arima Kinen
--> edit: his retirement ceremony was cancelled.
But it's one consolation to think that his health problem was found before the race.
As one of the most handsome stallions as well as major Kingmambo-line stallions, he will be very popular at stud.Trainer Hideaki Fujiwara comment:
"We were getting him ready for the Arima Kinen but this morning we noticed something irregular with his gait. As a result of a thorough examination and what appears to be a sprain in the fetlock area of in his right foreleg, (Eishin Flash) is to be pulled from the Arima Kinen and retired. Just thinking of it makes my heart heavy. He has given us his everything all along and it must have been tough on him. I have only feelings of gratitude for what he has given us. And, I would like to express my gratitude to all those who were a part of his life, the stable staff, the breeders and those involved in raising and training him, as well as his departed (former) owner Toyomitsu Hirai."
