huh, that hasn't been my experience in the time I've followed them. Unless for very specific things. Not saying you're wrong, just saying it hasn't been my experience. At least not for this length of time.mariasmon wrote:You're kidding, right? Coolmore has been more communicative since they acquired American Pharoah, but basically they're still their same old secretive selves. The only situation where they actually gave more info than anyone would've expected was with St. Nicholas Abbey and his injury/recovery/death.

St. Nick was a star and he had a huge fan base, so I think that they knew they were going to be better off updating news about the colt than going into silent mode. I also believe he was a stable favorite and the lads really thought he was going to make it.
It's a case where, IMHO, his death hit the Ballydoyle Boys hard enough that their feelings actually showed.

I think they realized that they'd have an easier time of it if they were proactive with the American Pharoah updates, too. And social media is the simplest way to do it. They're mostly not sharing anything but fluff, but fans feel like they're in the loop and it probably cut down significantly on the annoying phone calls and emails they would be had to put up with.

"The Bobby" has been submitted for him. Why do they hate him so much?mariasmon wrote:They haven't submitted a name yet, but I noticed the 2015 Shanghai Bobby out of Opulence (Giant's Causeway/Rags to Riches) now has a gelding notation in his file. I can about guarantee, in keeping with Coolmore norms, he's not going to get a good name if he's already been gelded.

They really missed an opportunity to name him 'Ricky Bobby'
Or maybe 'Riches Bobby,' for his illustrious grand dam?
