Empire Maker now has a son that sired a Triple Crown Winner in his 2nd crop and another son that sired a Kentucky Derby winner in his 1st crop. I think his return to Kentucky is going to turn out to be one of the savviest decisions involving American bloodstock of the last 50 years.

Something had to come from the incredible mares he saw in his years at stud here. Guess his biggest impact will come as a sire of sires, as he was a bit of a disappointment himself given his opportunity.

Didn't most of the mares he saw come from primarily Turf stock though? I remember seeing somewhere that Juddmonte was a bit miffed that he was doing really well for others but performing poorly for them, which apparently factored into the decision for sending him to Japan. I mean his two TC race winning sire sons, both placed in the Ky Derby, (like himself I might add), one placed in the Preakness, that's an impressive dynasty. His son Bodemeister, and his grandsons American Pharoah, Classic Empire all won the Arkansas Derby as well.
His son Pioneerof the Nile and the direct grandson Pharoah both won the CashCall Futurity, and PotN won the Santa Anita Derby.
Both Empire Maker and his grandson Always Dreaming won the Florida Derby.
By the way I don't know why I didn't think of this before but Bodemeister has a similar nick to American Pharoah (Empire Maker over a Storm Cat mare), that might turn out to bode really well for AP as a sire.

I sure do wish Bobby Frankel were still around to see it all.
