I love his 'eyeliner.'
Sometimes, when a white horse has pale/blue eyes, the eyes can seem a bit small, even 'piggy.'

Not sure who the sire is (Tosen Homareboshi...? if I'm reading it right?), but here is Madre Bonita (JPN)'s 2017 foal:

WOW! Another CLASSIC splash white foal. Interesting to see another just a year after the Bodemeister colt from last year.

Splish splash! I love his kiddo.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on the horse!

Love all the chrome on that Madre Bonita baby. Quite the looker.
I also like those halters they put on their foals because they fit better than the leather ones.

Shironii was a very good 4th in his first try on grass in the Wakaba Stakes at Hanshin:

1st. #10 Adam Barows(JPN) (Heart's Cry x Chacharino by Unbridled's Song)
2nd. #8 Eclair Sparkle(JPN) (Heart's Cry x Pretty Carina by Seeking the Gold)
4th. #11 Shironii(JPN) (King Kamehameha x Shirayukihime by Sunday Silence)
Yes, Shironii ran a decent 4th in that competitive field.
The Wakaba Stakes is one of the key lead-up races (trial races) for the G1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas), from which top two finishers earn automatic berths into the Satsuki Sho.
That was not Shironii's first test but second test on the turf.

His jockey Andrasch Starke commented after the race that Shironii might return to the dirt in his next time out.
He can handle the turf, but he has to be stronger on the dirt.

Pretty girl. Shame that, like most of the North American dominant whites...she's not bred to run.
Seriously.....why would anyone stand that stallion at stud?

I mean... I'm not saying he's the best stallion in the world by any stretch, but he's FAR from the top of the list of horses who shouldn't be standing. I was a fan of his while he was running, and he was a very cool, hard-knocking type, and a multiple stakes winner on the toughest/best circuit in the country. Looks like he's sired some stakes horses in Canada and was leading sire in BC in 2015. Could you do better? Sure. But you could also do a LOT worse.Retrospectiv wrote:Pretty girl. Rare white Thoroughbred born in New York
http://live.drf.com/nuggets/36873An unusually marked, mostly white colt from the last crop sire Lucky Pulpit was foaled on May 19 at Stone Bridge Farm in Gansevoort, N.Y. in ongoing fulfillment of a dream sparked in owner/breeder Gary Tolchin when he attended races with his father as a youth.
The colt was delivered by the white mare, Passionforfashion by Old Fashioned, who Tolchin acquired privately last year after a lengthy search for a white Thoroughbred.
“I always wanted a white horse after I saw one at Aqueduct with my father, Sam Tolchin, when I was growing up," he said. "My goal is to continue breeding white horses.”
Tolchin said he intends to keep the newborn colt and eventually place him in training for racing.
Rick Bailey, registrar of The Jockey Club, said it is too soon to determine what color the colt officially will be given when registered. His coloring is similar, although a bit more splashed with chestnut, to that of Passionforfashion’s dam, the registered white Trust N Luck mare Turf Club, who also had liberal chestnut markings. Turf Club died earlier this month due to nagging gastrointestinal issues.

She is stunning. Even if you made her a plain brown with no white at all, she still has a beautifully-proportioned and strong body and a head like an Arabian.
I'm glad her eyes are dark and I love her red topknot.
