To cover for Dusty who still has ongoing technical problems.
RUFFIAN alertly breaks from the gate and establishes a nice lead,
with TIGER DANCER in hot pursuit.
The remainder of the field remains tightly bunched through the first turn,
and then gradually loosens up,
with CATALINA briefly leading the stragglers but then slowly falling back.
In the backstretch, STARK finds another gear
and passes the fading TIGER DANCER as well as RUFFIAN.
But, his bold move has inspired DUSTY and CIGARSHOP,
who almost immediately wrest the lead from STARK.
While the two front runners battle for the lead, STARK re-breaks
And with the audience loudly cheering,
STARK manages to fly past the much improved DUSTY
and beat the tenacious CIGARSHOP by a nose.
DUSTY comes in third, ten lengths behind CIGARSHOP,
and RUFFIAN completes the superfecta and claims The Precious.
