Lea Gets Bay Filly as First Foal

The filly is out of the winning Cozzene mare Winikins, who has already produced five winners from six starters. Winikins is out of the winning Seeking the Gold mare Wini Jones, who produced eight winners (including two black-type performers) from 10 foals.

California stallion Circumference was represented by his first foal on Jan. 16, a filly out of the winning dam Nubian Priincess [should be spelled Princess]. John Ivory is the breeder.

Circumference is the first son of Galileo to stand in California. He is a half brother to Circular Quay. Circumference stands at Milky Way Farm in Temecula, Calif. for a fee of $3,000.

Palace’s first foal is a filly

Spendthrift Farm’s Palace, the multiple Grade 1 winner and leading sprinter by City Zip, sired his first reported foal on Jan. 18th when a filly was born at Hilltop Stables in Deposit, N.Y.

Bred by Carl Bennett, the chestnut filly is out of the young Afleet Alex mare Rhetorical Colors, who hails from the immediate family of Grade 1 winners Mineshaft, Tomisues Delight, Runup the Colors and multiple other graded stakes winners.

“She is a nice-sized, leggy filly with a great profile, tremendous presence and an abundance of quality,” said Bennett. “She has an attractive head with a huge white face, and looks very much like the foals we have seen sired by City Zip.”

This is Meine Fenice's 2017 by Gold Ship, born on Jan 17th. It seems that she is grey, as her eyelashes look whitish. We may have to wait until her downy hair will be removed. She will still be cute even if she turns out to be a bay. Her coat color will become official only in Autumn when she will be registered following her genetic test anyway.
