Pick of the Litter sells for $15k, to stand in Louisiana #NewSires17
http://live.drf.com/nuggets/34643Grade 2 winner Pick of the Litter sold to Janet Jeanes for $15,000 on Monday at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale, and will enter stud in Louisiana.
The 7-year-old son of Kitten's Joy sold as a stallion prospect after an on-track career that included five wins in 19 starts for earnings of $419,110. He is best known for his win in the Grade 2 Fayette Stakes at Keeneland, making him a standout among the Kitten's Joy progeny for picking up a graded win on dirt. He also finished third in the Grade 3 Lexington Stakes at Keeneland when main surface was Polytrack.
"We were looking for something from the El Prado line, and he's a Grade 2 winner on dirt, even though he's by Kitten's Joy, and he's got a decent pedigree," said bloodstock agent Anne Peters, who signed the ticket. "I thought he'd go for a lot more than that. I thought he'd go up to $50,000."
Bred in Kentucky by Gabriel Duignan, Crosshaven Bloodstock, and Vision Thoroughbreds, Pick of the Litter is out of the winning Fusaichi Pegasus mare Eagle Sound, who is the dam of five winners from six foals to race. He is from the family of Grade 1 winners All Fired Up and Competitive Edge.
