Vexatious won, but it was close. Great effort by the filly, as she managed to get her nose in front in the middle of several horses all together at the wire.

Yep, she won in a driving finish under Kent Desormeaux (was 3rd in her debut). Trained by Neil Drysdale for Calumet Farm.

Also half to J.B.'s Thunder (by Malibu Moon out of Rebridled Dream by Unbridled's Song). I just watched the replay, very impressive gate to wire win.

Defiant Honor (Speightstown - Honor Bestowed, by Honor Grades), full sister to Recepta who recently lost her battle with laminitis, finished 2nd (to Journey Home by War Front) in a roughly run Jimmy Durante Stakes, with a bunch of what looked like cardboard on the turf course.

Yikes, if those were table tops, that could have been disastrous for a nice field of 2 year old fillies.

Not one for excuses but please dont run races if the wind is so bad that table tops are gonna fly onto the turf course.

It was foam drain covers that blew onto the first turn.
Del Mar: Stewards inquire into debris on turf course
Defiant Honor and With Honors had troubled trips because of the debris, along with Happy Mesa, who finished seventh; How About Zero, who ran 10th; and La Force, who was eased.
