Anyone can guess that Uncle Mo's fee is going up for 2017, but how high? I say it goes to $150,000.

Any other stallions getting a bump? In my mind, Candy Ride and Ghostzapper are candidates for an increase. Maybe to like the $75,000 range?

Any thoughts on others deserving to go up? Maybe Into Mischief? City Zip again? Congrats?

According to Eric Mitchell (https://twitter.com/BH_EMitchell/status ... 753156608), War Front is going up to $250k. I think that's crazy but I guess they can fill the book so they're going for it.

I noticed the other day that Spendthrift has fees listed on their stallions' pages that don't correspond with their advertised 2016 fees at the beginning of the year. If they're the 2017 fees, Into Mischief is going up to $75k and Malibu Moon is dropping to $75k (from $95k in 2016).

I heard that Mo is going up to $175k from someone who is already trying to get mares in for clients but won't fully believe it until I see it. I'm interested to see if Tapit goes up again. I think he's kind of at the ceiling of what the market will tolerate but he keeps getting better and better every year so maybe it would willingly fill his book at higher.

Spendthrift also has Temple City at $10K, down from $15K

When I was comparing the list of stud fees from 2016 to what was on the pages, it seemed like a decent number of Spendthrift horses were taking at least a small dip.

Claiborne fees:

Up: Algorithms, Flatter, and War Front (to 250K). Flatter is having a great year. The War Front number might raise some eyebrows here, but he's getting 11% SW and is the probably the most prominent sire who attracts attention from both US and Euro big money interests.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gemologist, Munnings, and/or Dialed In got a boost.

I could see Gemologist getting a hefty bump in price, if the almost doubling of Super Saver's fee last year is any indication of WinStar's pricing.

I noticed Blame stayed at $25K...while Warrior's reward at Spendthrift went from $10K to $7500...

On the surface you'd think Temple city & Warriors reward would stay at their current fees, but it's obvious Spendthrift likes huge books for their stallions..

Quantity vs quality sometimes equals quality. Eh?

Giants Causeway only covered 48 mares this year. His fee can't stay where it is.

Drosselmeyer only bred 15 mares. He'll likely be getting his walking papers from Winstar at some point soon.

I'm actually surprised Drosselmeyer has lasted this long past the breeding season unless they're working on a deal to just leave him in Chile.

War Front onlv covered 111 mares this year. Seriously limiting the size of his book (relative to other top stallions' book size) is a big reason why they can keep raising his fee.

What did the book sizes ended up being for Pioneerof the Nile and Empire Maker at their respective advertised fees of 125 000$ and 100 000$?
Also curious about Bodemeister.

Doesn't appear that he shuttled this year.

And speaking of Empire maker & POTN, how many mares did American Pharaoh cover?

Thanks :)
I think EM stays the same, Bodemeister gets a small increase (like 5k). POTN should go down but it is WinStar so, I wouldn't be surprised if he stays the same.

Would you happen to have Cairo Prince's number? I doubt his fee would change regardless, but I am curious. ;)

Cairo Prince covered 148 mares at a paltry $15,000. Get to him while he's still at a relative bargain.

Oh well dang. He might get a bump then. I would expect it to rise more in 2018 after the market sees how his yearlings perform at the sales.
I thought he was a steal at 10k last year, too bad I don't have a thoroughbred mare to send to him. One interesting thing is that he free of Mr. Prospector, Northern Dancer and A. P. Indy which I would think makes him compatible with a high number of mares and could certainly provide an interesting outcross option.

(As a side note... His first foal to go to auction (she also sold) is out of a blacktype producing Deputy Minister mare, I will be very curious to see how she develops as a yearling. )
