For those lamenting the exportation of Colonel John and the subsequent concern for the Tiznow sire line, Gemologist has another nice 2yr old graded stakes winner.

Very happy to see Pyro's numbers so high. I think his offspring did something in Japan today because of a tweet I saw from Darley, but it really lost something in the English translation.

Save me the Equibase search. Who the heck is he? Ok, looked up anyway. Seems like a tough one to sell, but of course I wish them good luck.

I think he has a lot of quality - sire line, female family, million $ yearling (good conformation, good looking), lots of starts - so fairly durable, fast, SW. Lesser horses have gone to the breeding shed.

Three-time grade I winner Lord Nelson will stand at his owner B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm upon retirement, the farm announced Oct. 16.

The announcement did not include when the 4-year-old colt would be retired.

Sending Hard Spun and Street Sense there for a season seemed to work so maybe it'll do the same for him.

I remember when Discreet Cat was the 2nd coming... he's kind of just mentionable these days.

I was very excited about Secret Compass and bet her with She's A Tiger (who she beat in the Chandelier) in the 2013 BC Juvenile Fillies. That race is still a bad memory. No telling how good she could have been.

American Pharoah saw 208 mares this season, of which 45% were stakes winners and 26% graded stakes winners, including 25 grade 1 winners.
33 of the mares in his book have already produced grade 1 winners, and 54 are stakes producers. This is the highest quality book for a first year sure since 2007 (Bernardini) and the 4th most numerous for a first year since 2000 (Lion Heart, 233 Chapel Royal 222 and Uncle Mo 211)
