It seems he's mellowed since being gelded. He apparently used to be the rather ornery colt

Kulik Lodge (o/o Kulik Cat, by Giants Causeway) finished 2nd by a neck to Vyjack in Race 7 (1m Turf Allowance) at Keeneland on 4/21. Why do I remember a retirement announcement for Vyjack?????

Curalina dusted them in the La Troienne (Gr.1) on the KY Derby undercard on 5/7. Won by 7+ lengths in her first start of the year. :D

Theogony at Churchill Downs. She's so stinkin' adorable. She started rubbing all over this guy and then leaned her head on him and they didn't move for about a minute

She has a very kind eye and sweet look to her. I was so happy when I saw she won the Rags to Riches. <3

Nice little bump for Hill 'n Dale. She's by Curlin and is a half-sister to their other stallion, Concord Point :D

Stellar Wind won the Clement L Hirsch at Del Mar by a head/neck over Beholder. Great race by two classy ladies! The victory also bumped Stellar Wind's earnings over $1m, congratulations to Curlin's newest millionaire. :D

Curlin had an absolutely monster weekend. Not only did Stellar Wind take the Hirsch, but Curalina dusted the competition by 9.25 lengths in the Shuvee, Connect won his sire's namesake race at Saratoga by a length, and Exaggerator took the muddy Haskell Invitational and atoned for the Belmont clunker.

Off The Tracks finished 3rd in the Gr.1 Test at Saratoga on 8/6. She ran a really good race, gave 6lbs to the winner/4lbs to the 2nd place finisher, and was beaten only a length after being right there for (what seemed to me) a really fast early pace.

Curalina finished 2nd to Cavorting in the Gr.1 Personal Ensign at Saratoga on 8/27.

Exaggerator continues to mystify both fans and bettors by failing to fire in the Travers. I have never known of any horse to have such an affinity (or as the case may be, dependence) for a wet track. Has anyone else???

Curlin's Approval won the 7f Added Elegance at Gulfstream on 8/28.

Curlin Colt Lands Austrian Derby
Unplaced in two starts in New York for owner John M.B. O’Connor and trainer Tom Albertrani in 2015, Medici (Curlin) had won two of five subsequent starts in Germany and was exiting a narrow runner-up effort at nearby Bratislava in Slovakia July 31. Forwardly placed after a smooth departure from gate two at this suburban Vienna oval, Medici prompted the pace into the stretch and successfully thwarted the late bid of Global Gentl (Ger) (Aerion {Ger} for the victory. Longshot Prairie Lukas (Ger) (Aqlaam {GB}) held for third ahead of Hungarian Oaks victress Matidia (Ire) (Manduro {Ger}), who raced close to the early pace, was shuffled back and re-engaged late to finish fourth.

GROSSER PREIS DER OESTERREICHISCHEN LOTTERIEN (FRANK STRONACH-AUSTRIAN DERBY) (NB), €15,000, Magna Racino, 9-4, 3yo, 2200mT, 2:15.90, gd.

2–Global Gentl (Ger), 128, c, 3, Aerion (Ger)–Global Beauty (GB), by Tiger Hill (Ire). (€16,000 RNA Ylg ‘14 BBASEP). O-Stall europeanstayers.com. €3,750.

Nyquist and Exaggerator finished 6th and 7th, respectively, with CONNECT taking home the lions share of the purse with a half length victory over Gun Runner. Way to go, Connect!

Finished 5th of 8, beaten just shy of 7 lengths.

Finished 2nd, beaten half a length. Chart mentions that he had to steady leaving the gate and later in the race the jockey lost the whip, but he finished well and ran a great race regardless. (is it just me or does Laurel's turf course seem very narrow?)

Curalina has been retired.
Naohiro Hosoda with Shadai said Curalina was definitely purchased as a broodmare prospect and that her racing career is over.
