Sorry, I don't have a link to the race. I just happened to turn on TVG early enough this morning to catch the race live.

Thanks, Northport! I love how the race callers identify the silks colors along with the horses. It makes it so much easier to follow. I wish they did that here.

Foreign race callers kind of have to call the silks, since the horses' saddlecloths are all the same color. The silks are pretty much the only way fans and announcers can identify the entrants during a race.

I recognize that. Maybe it's just me, but I find it a lot easier to follow silks in races here also, rather than trying to see the saddle cloths which easily get hidden in a herd of horses. I recognize a lot of the silks of horses I follow here. And those I don't know by heart, I pay a lot of attention to before the race. I do wish more race callers here identified the horses by their silks and names. I'd find it easier to follow the action.BaroqueAgain1 wrote:Foreign race callers kind of have to call the silks, since the horses' saddlecloths are all the same color. I agree. Places like Saratoga, with its single, long, pan view, don't show much of the field...except for heads bobbing above the hedges and rails.
I appreciate the way the RacingPost shows race cards on their site, with small graphics of the silks along with the usual names and such.

Impressive! Echoes of mum with his handsome, solid, brown bay coat and winning for fun.

That 1st race at Newmarket is full of well-bred fillies (field of 14!), but it's scheduled to go off at 1:50 local, which I think is 5:50 AM Pacific. TVG doesn't start its live International coverage until 6 AM, so even if I did rise before dawn, I can't see it.
The 2nd race at 2:20, the G2 Royal Lodge for colts & geldings, has a few O'Brien-trained colts (two Aiden, one Joseph), including Douglas Macarthur.
It's the 3rd race that will probably make me fire up the DVR...the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes for 2yo fillies features the fabulous Lady Aurelia. Only five others are trying her, but the field does include O'Brien's Roly Poly (War Front/Misty For Me) and the Richard Fahey-trained Queen Kindly (Frankel/Lady of the Desert).

Sam-Son Farm has another good one from Misty Mission in 2-year-old Mythical Mission. Looks to want more distance, but got up in time in a 6.5 furlong turf maiden race at Woodbine.
She's a full sister to Irish Mission, half to undefeated Smart Mission.
Definitely one to watch.

Wow, that was impressive. Such a strong-looking filly, such easy strides.
