I just watched the video replay of this and wow, that was an impressive debut. Love that he is also trained by Shug! I bet he will be a fun one to follow :)

I was able to go to Aiken this past Friday to see Palace Malice before he leaves for Florida. Unfortunately it was freezing that morning and the track was frozen so he didn't train. But I was able to meet him and get some pictures. Everyone at Dogwood is very nice and they were great with fans. They felt bad because he wasn't training so they let him out into the round pen later in the morning after it had thawed some. He is a character, loved to roll and play around. I'm pretty sure he knows when the cameras are around because he starts posing. Luckily we live in NC so we were able to make a day trip out of it. We were also able to meet Cot and Frances Campbell and they are both very nice. It was a great trip and I figured I would share some pictures.

He loves his peppermints! https://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hph ... 9105_n.jpg

Miss Frost Stakes placed Curlin filly that Dogwood owns https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hph ... 9442_n.jpg

They also have a 2yr old filly, Curolina. She isnt officially named yet, so Im not sure who her dam is, but I fell in love with her. https://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hph ... 6571_n.jpg

Lovely pictures, thank you for sharing them! They all look very friendly. Is there a general concensus on the temperments of Curlin's foals?

Thanks! I used the spelling the guy told me. I was wondering who she was out of.

Thank You!

Palace Malice was very mouthy and full of energy. He would bite you in a second but wasn't mean, just mouthy and playful. He is also a stallion who is daily fed peppermints, and I think he was also a bit keyed up since he didn't get to train and work out some of that energy.

They said Miss Frost came back to them really mean but she has mellowed out since being in Aiken. She didn't seem to bad to me, about what I would expect from a Thoroughbred who is still racing. They said she will have a late start this year and will head back up to NY in the spring.

Curalina was very sweet. She let me pet her and would even rest her head on my shoulder. I'm not sure if that is just her temperament or if she will get a bit more high strung as her training gets more advanced. Her temperament seemed about the same as my Spotted Saddle. They said they just had all their 2 year olds x-rayed and only one was developed enough to really start training.

Based on the three that I met they all seemed well mannered with pretty even temperaments, But 3 out of hundreds isn't a great sample. They all also seemed smaller than I though they would be. But, I am used to looking at Quarter Horses and Draft horses, haha.
