Actually, it looks like all three of those Coolmore boys had their backgrounds 'adjusted.' That grass is so fluorescent green, it appears that the stallions got a trip to Pandora for their portraits. :P

Vancouver's looks oversaturated/edited/adjusted as you say, but at least the background and horse seem to be part of the same original picture
Anyway I would assume someone seriously interested in breeding their mares would inspect the stud in person!

If I gave the impression that I actually think that the horses have been cut out and pasted on a different background, sorry....that's not what I meant. Yep, I was kidding about Pandora. :P
I do believe that the horses are standing in front of those backgrounds. What I'm suggesting is that the backgrounds had their color(s) adjusted and items cleaned up/retouched to something that the graphic artist thought was "better."
But (if I remember my Photoshop correctly) in order to change a background and NOT change the color/contrast in the horse (or to do different adjustments to the horse), the horse has to be outlined and saved on a different layer. The retoucher may not be trying to change the shape/conformation of the horse, but there's human ability/judgement involved....and that's where my suspicions lay.

Yes I (personally anyway) knew what you meant since I used to dabble in photo editing, and you are correct about the outlining/layering. What I was referring to is when it is done to an extreme, it makes it look like the horse itself is separate from the background and it could be a different background entirely. I believe the others were referring to the same impression what with the notion of green screen.
The hooves do look funky though and I wonder if there was some retouching on the grass/feet. (I know sometimes it isn't intentionally done to hide a flaw but for aesthetics... it just makes it look suspicious).

Ahhh, thanks so much!

Man, I forgot for a second that Tonalist was a Tapit and briefly lived in a magical world where I thought he was a son of AP Indy. He looks SO much like him. Also hard to wrap my head around the fact that AP Indy is his great-grandsire...I feel old.

Liam's Map is nicer than I expected. He has tons of bone. Definitely didn't see that coming.

And, of course, Honor Code looks lovely. Wowza. I always thought he was fine, but all filled out like that? Hubba.

Honor Code is easily the best looking. Tonalist looks better with some weight on him and the muscling he's developed from covering mares has made his roached back less prominent.

Was Mr. Speaker the one with the swallowing problem? Am I imagining that, or was that another colt?

I think you're thinking of Speechify (who has 9 lives, he was also involved in a spill at Keeneland last year and was mostly fine). http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/sp ... d-archive/

He's a tough little horse but seems to have lost his edge this year. Will be interesting to see where/if he ends up somewhere at stud. He's an intact son of Harlan's Holiday who won a G3, I'm not sure there's much demand for a horse like that except for possibly South America.

I just couldn't remember his name. I could remember the details about his story, but his name eluded me and my Googling skills failed me

I think Honor Code looks a lot like Storm Cat.

Thank you Retro for the pics!

Oddly enough I think Tonalist resembles AP Indy the most. I really only see AP Indy in Honor Code's head. Still a pretty boy though. <3
