Mares can drop multiple good horses and that mare already has a few nice ones on the page. Will he be another Declaration of War? Maybe not, but on blood alone he could be a regional stallion prospect. Look at Curlin To Mischief.Ken wrote:I noticed the full brother of Declaration of War is in the Keeneland September sale. His name is The Presidency. I have no idea if Joseph Allen really plans on selling him but from a statistical standpoint can anyone name any full brother or sisters than were also great horses? It strikes me as odd a person with deep pockets would sell a full brother to Declaration of War if the horse had shown any talent. But if he is so bold to name him The Presidency wouldn't you think he has talent?

Of course there are superior full siblings--maybe not "great" because that is rare, but very good. One which comes to mind is the pair of juvenile champions produced by the Princequillo mare Misty Morn to the cover of Bold Ruler, Bold Lad and Successor. (Hmm, that cross sounds familiar. . . ) But I know there is a school of thought that prefers "close but not exact," e.g. breed AP's dam to Empire Maker or even Bodemeister rather than going straight back to PotN.
Misty Morn also produced the superior Sunrise Flight.

I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Not all are full siblings but the progeny that Urban Sea has produced has been outstanding. 2 Derby winners (both now excellent sires with Galileo absolutely dominating), 4 Grade 1 winners overall, an Oaks placed filly and another listed stakes winner who is also off the mark as a sire with his first crop. And the fillies she has produced have had a good produce record as well. But most of all, her name will be carried on through many generations thanks to Galileo and Sea The Stars.

Avalyn Hill has an article on BloodHorse.com that addresses this: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/ ... l-siblings
Some other examples I can recall are:
Better Than Honour produced Jazil, Rags to Riches and Casino Drive
Leslie's Lady produced Beholder and Into Mischief, both G1 winners
Urban Sea produced Galileo and Sea the Stars
Marguerite produced multiple stakes winners Petee-Wrack (by Wrack), Gallant Fox and Fighting Fox (both by Sir Gallahad III).

Whilst both brilliant, the two were just half brothers. Black Sam Bellamy was a full brother to Galileo (both out of the brilliant Sadler's Wells) whilst the closest brother to STS was Born To Sea whose sire Invincible Spirit was out of Green Desert (just as STS's sire Cape Cross) so they are 3/4 brothers, ish. Although Oaks placed All Too Beautiful was a full to Galileoaethervox wrote:Avalyn Hill has an article on BloodHorse.com that addresses this: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/ ... l-siblings

Kind has done pretty well, with Bullet Train, Frankel and Noble Mission. I think there's also an OK colt, Morpheus?

Mariah's Storm had Giant's Causeway and You'resothrilling, who were both graded stakes winners. There were also four stakes placed horses from the cross. Basically all her foals are gold, if they can't run, they can produce (or in You'resothrilling's case, both)

Which reminds me -- How has Win Approval not won Broodmare of the Year yet?
She is the dam of:
Miesque's Approval (Miesque's Son) -- Champion Turf Male; Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. I) winner; millionaire
Za Approval (Ghostzapper) -- Grade III winner; runner-up in three grade I's; millionaire
Revved Up (Sultry Song) -- Grade II winner; won stakes ages 4 through 10 (exception age 6); millionaire
World Approval (Northern Afleet) -- Grade I winner
Pretty impressive resume, don't you think?

There's also GC's full brother, Freud, who has been top sire in NY for forever.

Introducing the Eclipse 'Blue Hen' award ?Starine wrote:Ah. Well, it'd be nice for exceptional broodmares based outside of Kentucky to be recognized as well. Win Approval could probably throw a graded stakes winner if she was covered by a donkey.
