I know what I'll be doing over the next few days!

Galileo and Frankel lots on offer at Saratoga Sale
BOTH Galileo and Frankel are among the sires represented in the 252 yearlings catalogued for the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale which begins its two-day run on August 8.

The three lots on offer by Coolmore's seven-time champion sire Galileo include a colt out of the Grade 1-placed War Front mare Emerald Gold (Lot 20), a colt out of the Grade 2-winning Theatrical mare Lady Shakespeare (70), and a filly out of the Stravinsky mare Mythical Echo consigned by Eaton Sales (104).

Frankel, an eight-year-old son of Galileo, is responsible for two lots, a filly out of the Graded-winning Distant View mare J'Ray (65) and a colt out of the 2009 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner She Be Wild (148).

The late Scat Daddy has 12 lots on offer including a colt named Pitching out of the Grade 3-winning A P Indy mare Indy Groove (56) and a colt out of the Group/Grade 1-winning Stagecraft mare Noches De Rosa (109).

I hardly see why that's a given.

Half sister to Songbird might get some attention.

All depends what they look like anyway.

Animal Kingdom was, IMO, a really impressive looking individual. It will be interesting to see if he's stamped his foals.

Considering that we just lost Scat Daddy, and his offspring have been doing very well (two juvenile winners at Royal Ascot!), those twelve may get higher bids than they would have last year.

The Frankel-She Be Wild colt will get a pretty penny.

164 is a 1/2 brother to Princess of Sylmar.

Ditto to that last line. It's all about the physicals. The top sales are almost always ones that we wouldn't pinpoint on pedigree alone, though some of the top peds will also have top physicals. The peds of the Galileos and Frankels don't look stronger than the Tapits and other American sire power. Bummed that the Havre de Grace was pulled. I wanted to see him and hoped for fireworks. Looks like Pope may end up racing Grace's offspring instead of selling.

The colt is aiming for Keeneland September according to Wayne Sweezey but he told me it's going to be a challenge to get Mandy to actually send him to the sale.

I thought it was this sale that he was entered (but, yes, good luck getting Pope to sell).

The Plum Pretty was going to Saratoga and both the Aloof and Grace are entered in September. From the big four (Betterbetterbetter didn't have a foal last year), only Groupie's is the one not getting entered anywhere. This all comes from what he told me for the TDN article I wrote about the mares/their foals/yearlings last month.

That must've been the article I read, just remembered the sale wrong. ;-)

Sweezey said the Plum Pretty is the only one he's pretty confident she'll send to a sale. She loves the mare but isn't as attached as she is to the others. It'll be interesting to see if this one hits the reserve since last year's colt didn't.

Clearly she's not too worried about getting some of her money back in yearling sales. ;-)

I guess we can look back and say you were wrong again, Ken/Chris.
