Buena Vista's good rival also shipped to the US to run in the Flower Bowl (3rd) & the BC F&M Turf (4th) in 2010.
May she rest in peace.
I remember her from Churchill Downs that year, seeing her out galloping in the mornings in all of her bright red gear :(

Rest well, lovely lady.

Was just looking at the chart for that BC F&M Turf, and re-watched the stretch drive. What a race. The first 7 finishers (Shared Account, Midday, Keertana, Red Desire, Hot Cha Cha, Eclair de Lune, Forever Together) were separated by a neck, neck, 1 length, neck, neck, and a dead heat for 6th.

Oh, very sad. Thanks for posting...some of my favorite mares in that race.
RIP Red Desire. Hope her babies do her proud.

Best of luck to Lani!

I hope so, too.

Mikio Matsunaga (trainer of both Red Desire & Lani), from Baltimore, has just posted some memorial photos of Red Desire on twitter.

Beautiful photos. So sorry to hear that her first foal, Red Diver, broke her leg. Such a tough sport, RIP.

Woohoo, we're back! Not going to try to post all the news we've missed, but just had to slip in this rare gem. We noticed the cattle while we were visiting Coolmore last summer, but didn't realize they mingled with the mares.

This is from 2015? Just to be clear. So did she lose this foal?

This picture was posted by Coolmore Stud June 9 this year.

The story is she lost her 2016 Galileo filly foal, and this one is a filly as well. That info wasn't posted by Coolmore, so I'm cautious about its trustworthiness. When we visited Coolmore Ireland last summer, we didn't see Royal Delta but the stallion manager told us she was at the farm. Sorry for the confusion.

This is Coolmore Ireland?

I was wondering because I was at the National Stud in Newmarket last month, and they also had cattle, although not with the mares at the time. Wondering if cattle at stud farms is common over there.

When I lived in the UK, we often had cattle grazing with horses - cattle are less picky about what they eat and will keep pastures grazed more evenly.

Yeah, that's what we were told, their kind of grazing is compatible with the horses and better for the fields. They were so cute. When we arrived, they were in the fields by the main entrance and they all came over to the fence line to say hello and get some petting.

Another thing we thought was cool at Darley, they were growing corn (and I think wheat) in the infield of the training track. Very resourceful.

A bit more resourceful than the flamingos they have in the infield of their Dubai base, Al Quoz :p

Yeah, well, growing crops in Dubai might be a bit more challenging than the green isles of Ireland and England. :P

We didn't have a trailer! Plus I wouldn't want to take them away from Woodford. That place and the views there are gorgeous.
