Ezanak (Sea The Stars x Ebaza, half sister to Ebadiyla (Irish Oaks winner) and Estimate (Ascot Gold Cup winner)) won a 10f maiden at Gowran Park easily today on debut by 1 1/4 lengths. He went off at even odds and he holds entries in the Irish and Epsom Derbies.

Between Ezanak and Harzand, Sea the Stars could have a nice group of colts this yearcarole wrote:Ezanak (Sea The Stars x Ebaza, half sister to Ebadiyla (Irish Oaks winner) and Estimate (Ascot Gold Cup winner)) won a 10f maiden at Gowran Park easily today on debut by 1 1/4 lengths. Yea I'm very excited to see how his colts do this year! I'm hoping we'll get a Derby winner to add to his Oaks winner!Northport wrote:Between Ezanak and Harzand, Sea the Stars could have a nice group of colts this yearcarole wrote:Ezanak (Sea The Stars x Ebaza, half sister to Ebadiyla (Irish Oaks winner) and Estimate (Ascot Gold Cup winner)) won a 10f maiden at Gowran Park easily today on debut by 1 1/4 lengths. I found a page on Equibase but his dam doesn't have any progeny reports on pedigreequeryStarine wrote:Hmmm. Couldn't find him on PedigreeQuery.

On her page in her info the colt is listed
ETA: I see the relation now. The dam of Take Charge Tapit is a half sister to Take Charge Lady (dam of Take Charge Indy and Will Take Charge)

What's weird is there was also a 2001 son of Pulpit named Pontiff. Both US horses too.neighhey wrote:Pontiff, half brother to Pulpit, is entered in a 1 mile 70 yard AOC tomorrow at Will Rogers.

I thought that seemed weird, so I double-checked the naming rules. I'm not sure whether the waiting period to reuse names is shorter than it used to be or I'm misremembering, but the current rule is that names of horses over ten years old may be reused as long as they haven't been raced or bred in the last five years (and follow all other rules, of course).Retrospectiv wrote:What's weird is there was also a 2001 son of Pulpit named Pontiff. 2001 Pontiff was a gelding, and only raced twice in 2004. So the name would have come eligible when the second Pontiff was a yearling (or two year old, depending on how you're interpreting 'over ten years') and they pounced on it.
